Re: My work, since 1987...

I am about to finish "Aragorn's Leave-Taking" restored diorama.
Trees are planted, the river is nice, the bridge repaired. Hopefully pictures will be done this week-end.

It contains the following sets:

M321 - Goldberry
M339 - Elrohir
M342 - Elf-children in tree
M343 - Aragorn's Leave-Taking
M344 - Elven Flower-Maiden

I took quickly pictures in the garden this morning.

Re: My work, since 1987...

Excellent all round Milo and I especially like the way Goldberry is paddling in the water - a very good use of the design of this figure.

If I could make one small suggestion (a tip I picked up long ago) and that is to try and clump things like flowers, small rocks etc. in groups of 3, 5, 7 ...... an odd number seems to work better than an even number as it takes away the symetry.

Thanks once again for sharing this.

I am more than very busy, I will check what I can provide next week Master Gildor.

David, I might add some flowers to change sprays to odd ones. Thanks for the advice.

Re: My work, since 1987...

I started the eagle diorama this week-end with my kids (4 & 8 years old)! big_smile

We built a huge Carrock (35cm high) using plaster, and Pyrénées rocks  on saturday.
As it was too difficult to sculpt for them, stairs were changed to a way up path.
We started the painting yesterday. Kids just loved being part of this project. lollollol

Tonight, we'll add a final paint brush touch, Then some soil, grass, plants, and a little Beorn's cave.

Then eagles, dwarves, hobbit, Gandalf choice, assembling and painting.
Then Anduin River and several trees.
Then pictures ! coolcool
Hopefully done by upcoming month. rollroll

Of course, no eagle carying on its back being available (except M140...), I will use them while landing.
I like Ted Nasmith's illustration:

Re: My work, since 1987...

Seeing that picture of the eagles and the way the passengers are laying on their backs, brought to mind the pose of Bilbo barrelrider. That Bilbo might fit ton the back of an eagle.

Re: My work, since 1987...

That is true. I thought of it also.
But the thing is there is M140 with an eagle and Bilbo in funny position. I managed to find one so M140 will carry the hobbit.

Re: My work, since 1987...

Just a brief status of eagles diorama:
Title: "Carrock" Any other suggestion is welcomed.
Diorama:
Carrock is done. Beorn's cave will be added soon.
Several Trees need a bigger trunk.
The Anduin River base is drying in my garage. Then, natural material will bring it to life.

Miniatures:
Landing zone on Carrock is too small for 14 eagles, 13 dwarves, a hobbit and Gandalf.
I decided to use only 10 eagles including the ones with gandalf and Bilbo.

Here is my painting list:
1 M140: painting started.
2 M301: order is sent to Macroom, waiting for the postman
2 M302: 2 painting almost finished.
2 M303: I will replace orcs by 2 dwarves. 1 eagle painting is started.
2 M304: 2 painting almost finished.
1 MS553: order is sent to Macroom, waiting for the postman

I am trying to select 8 travelling dwarves which would be nearby landed eagles or in eagles claws.
M111, M127, M155, M160, M163, M229, M306
No dwarf is painted yet.

If any off you know a better dwarf candidate, let me know.

Re: My work, since 1987...

I am doing my best to make "Carrock" project being done:

I will update this post to provide you some daily progress status.

Diorama:
Carrock is done.
Beorn's cave is drying. 2 small stairs were added
I like it very much now.

The Anduin River :
Still drying...sadmad Don't know what do do...

Trees are waiting for a ground base.

Miniatures:

1 M140: eagle is painted, Dwarf & hobbit will be done tonight.
1 M111: not started
1 M127: not started
1 M160: not started
1 M163: painted, assembled on Carrock. (sheers Master Caster !)
1 M229: not started
2 M301: both painted, assembled on Carrock
2 M302: both painted, assembled on Carrock
2 M303: both painted, assembled on Carrock
2 M304: both painted, assembled on Carrock
1 M306: not started
1 MS538: waiting for the postman but no postman during french strikes...In case, I keep a spare M155.
1 MS553: not started

I wish to try the use of transparent flying bases (from GWP... hmm) for M140, M302 & M303.
As soon as I am happy with these 5 flying eagles, I will start to take some picture individually.
More news and maybe 1 or 2 pictures tomorrow.

Master Milo, I can support you very much with this very ambitious project!
I am curious about the way you will realize this scene . . .

There is also the possibility to show some pics from your workbench . . . tongue

Re: My work, since 1987...

Well, as far as I am concerned: I do! smile
And I am curious about further steps . . .

PS: I think it is a bit difficult to make the base transparent . . . I will think about possibilities . . .
