I think it is a bit difficult to make the base transparent . . . I will think about possibilities . . .

I received G...SW......P transparent bases which are just what I needed smile  (4 different lenghts available).
I will never make any advert for them so no link wink (even if it is the first time I found a diorama solution with this company...tongue)
No pictures yet as eagles are still missing their dwarves. big_smile

Re: My work, since 1987...

Well,
As several requested to see my workbench, I have to say there is none. I paint in the kitchen, in my living room, in the garage or on the terrasse table.

I took several pictures on what is going on near Toulouse.

Re: My work, since 1987...

I apologize for mini pictures. My mistake is repaired.
Still, pictures quality is quite poor because I took it today at nightfall.
I also noticed with these pictures that some glue ran down several transparrent bases.
This cleaning is added in the TODO list.hmm

Re: My work, since 1987...

Just return here from my WORKBENCH ! At the moment I am glad to have one.
It flows over for miniatures, oil-tubes, materials, brushes and so on . . .
Small photographs, yes they are. But it is a huge concept.
And I see, you have found a really professonal solution concerning these transparent bases. That looks good.

Re: My work, since 1987...

I managed today to prepare and put some resin water for the Anduin river.

Click to close
It is a 60cm x 60 cm square.
I used 750ml and I will add 750ml more once this set has dried.
2 little woods will also be added to complete the surroundings near the banks.

This element will become later a playground for my kids toys.
This is why the carrock base has some grass (Kids wanted an island for their boats).

Ah- looks pretty good Milo. Regarding this water I remember that there is a raft-elves-diorama waiting to be refreshed . . . roll
I am looking forward to the Carrock.

Re: My work, since 1987...

Thanks Masters.
Master Turambar, I wonder when you get some sleep seing the time you send your posts !roll
Regarding River, I tried every "water effect" from PA without being conviced by the final result (and the expense...).
At the end, I found some resin for "Jewel" imitation called "Gedeo chrystal resin".
It is sold in 750ml for 24€ (much cheaper than others). It dries quickly (in 12H), you can color it using stained-glass window inks.
It is fully transparent at the end and very strong.

I wonder that too!  hmm  But I can sleep in the office . . . lol
A hard programm at present. But I can´t find solutions concerning marble . . . you know . . . wink

Yes it is some kind of two component stuff, isn´t it. I used a product from "Heki" years ago for the Mirkwood river but I am not sure about using that again . . .
But this project has to wait -unfortunately . . . too many construction sites . . .

Re: My work, since 1987...

Yesterday evening, I read again the Hobbit "Unexpected party" chapter to check which color for my carrock Dwarves I shall use.
First, to me, I have always imagined hood & cloaks being the same colors.
This re-reading led me also to a small conversion for this project: I will replace the axe on M229 to make a nice Kili with shovel (using M100).

I know that purists might highlight the fact that only Thorin, Gandalf & Bilbo have a weapon at the time of this Carrock event as Gobelins took every things from the company.
Still, I must rely on existing Mithril dwarves, so armed ones will have axes except Thorin with Orcrist and Kili with a showel.
This to reflect the book as much as I can.

I have decided to allocate dwarves miniatures to the following characters:

1 M111: Fili with blue hood & cloak, weapon: Axe
1 M127: Ori with grey hood & cloak, weapon: Axe
1 M140: Dori with purple hood & cloak, Bilbo in dark green hood given by Dwalin, no weapons
1 M155: Thorin with Sky blue hood & cloak with a silver tassel, weapon: Orcrist
1 M160: Balin with red hood & cloak, no weapon
1 M163: Bifur with yellow hood & brown cloak, no weapon
1 M229: Kili with blue hood & cloak + conversion (see below), no weapon
1 M306: M306A:  Gloin with white hood & cloak, no weapon
M306B: Oin with brown hood & cloak, weapon: Axe
1 MS538: Bombur with pale green hood & cloak, weapon: Axe

The 3 missing dwarves will therefore be the following:
Dwalin with dark green hood & cloak and a blue beard (Bilbo already in dark green, Bombur also in green and the blue beard do not inspire me at all)
Bofur with yellow hood & cloak (Bifur already in yellow)
Nori with purple hood & cloak (Dori already in purple).
