Master Thingol I have to say I like your new pics very much. The black background brings the focus to the miniature and highlights the paintwork. Not bad at all!wink

Re: My work / Thingol

As Master Caster wrote, I think black background show more of your painting skills.
I wish I could obtain same quality of photos.

I like the dragon. It is quiet but powerfull. smile

Re: My work / Thingol

Dear Thingol, I like those pictures with the black background very much. - I think there are only two possibilities of presenting pictures of the figures accordingly. You can show them in appropriate surroundings (which is difficult to achieve) or against a neutral background. - I think you cannot compare one with the other. At least I myself couldn't tell what is better. As for me I prefer a neutral background because that highlights the figures better, as Holger stated.
I'm not talking about dioramas, which is a completely different thing.

Very nice pics. Also very hard to make them. Easier on a white background.

I like them very much.

Re: My work / Thingol

I do agree, Ori. When I take pics of figures for myself I place them at a white or very light grey background. Though also having the right light at hand means a lot.

Re: My work / Thingol

Thanks guys for compliments... I'm agree with Master Ent about neutral background... with correct manual exposure on camera it is possible to take great pictures... I'n not expert yet but I'm going to become better...

all figures in catalogues in 54 mm painting experts almost always uses black or some dark background... So I have also some on white and some on black...

Re: My work / Thingol

Sad news from the "Grandma's garden"... so our greandma does not live at her house any more, she'gone in home for the elderly. And her garden is now a chicken coop. Her son's put in there  chickens and demolished the part of the old wall on which they are incurred all my photos.... se dear friends... for dedication to the old pfotos.... I will never do new pictures from there... and probably anywhere from nature.... It simply would no longer be "it"....
and still I'm in doubt if I'll buy the "old crone with chickens"... for 21 Euros... wink

Very sad to hear that, Master Thingol, very sad.

Maybe the magic was the most powerful force in the world. But that was long ago.
The dragons are gone, the giants are dead and the children of the woods are forgotten.

Re: My work / Thingol

Sad news Nino, like many a fair 'garden' of Middle Earth no more shall the elves play there neutral.

When I first heard a while back that Grandma's Garden was no more I had feared the worst news, but you say she is in a home, I hope she is well albeit no longer in her own house wink

Re: My work / Thingol

I have just read the news about the garden. Sorry about that, there was a magic aura in there, and you knew how to catch it on the pictures as well.

On the other hand, I always like your pictures and work on the minis. Thank you for sharing them.

Nice paintings. I see continuous improvements in your techniques Master Thingol.
And as usual, picts are pro, + The sylvan herbalist base is great. I think you caught what CT wanted to have aronud the herbalist.

As always, you are far ahead my painting schedule! How do you manage to keep, your collection painted?
