Re: The Taproom

Well I hope whoever this was can look at themselves in the mirror and feel proud mad!

I've always thought of the GF and off-shoots such as MMP as a fairly unique 'family' of collectors who no matter if their suggestion wins or loses take the vinal vote in good spirit and do not feel the need to cheat to win the prize.

We all like to see our suggestion make it, but not at any price. Let's hope it is a one-off happening.

A sad day for the GF to see this happen, and I was quite happy today as Mithril kindly honoured my order that didn't go through properly on the 10.10.10.

Re: The Taproom

Cheating in a GF vote is, frankly, rather pathetic, and whoever did it is in severe need of an injection of morality and perspective into their sad existence. Really. I've often wondered what preventative measures were in place to protect the GF forum from this kind of interference, and now my question is answered. None! I guess that on that basis it's only surprising that some little weasel hasn't tried it before. Or perhaps they did, and Michael just din't pick it up...

Re: The Taproom

I want all of you to know that I suggested Michael we compared IP addresses from the official forum and MMP forum, to see if there is a leak from our part , as a sign of trust and confidence... I may be supporter to having more mithril supporters, but breakign GF codes is really not the solution for that....

Besides, as administrator, and only for a poll, no matter the importance of the poll... Michael could not trace the person back to their home, he can technically do it (as I can), but that would be illegal to track down persons with their IPs unless there is a crime behind it, and only the Police can take that in charge in the end...

Re: The Taproom

.... I was thinking that GF is just some kind of pleasure.... not hard competition with possibility of cheating.... it is just a hobby game.... and yes I also think that it is pathetic....

And I see that my friend forrest warden is already gone... next time we would share a little gossip !

Re: The Taproom

Gildor, you are right about tracking the IP address, which I suggested to Michael in my email earlier. It is not illegal for Mithril to track the IP address; it is their right to make sure of such things for their business. Indeed, if they give private information found on that computer, or personal information such as addresses, it would be illegal--I am not suggesting that. But they have a right to do business with who they want, and can expel the offender(s) from the FG membership.

Re: The Taproom

And now, it's time for me to temporarily bid you all a fond adieu - I'm off to sunnier climes for a little over two weeks to look for some of these exotic drinks that certain regulars keep requesting. Don't know if I'll find any, and even if I do I may drink them rather than bring them back. But anyway, Nob is in charge of the stable until I return and Master Tree is in charge of the bar (Nob can't reach the top of the bar, but an Ent can).

I hope you all behave, and I don't want to hear any tittle-tattle about squabbling when I get back!

Re: The Taproom

now some here may call me racist, but I can't manage to imagine a dark skinned hobbit....the picture of the woman who in this article is completly fine for me, but dark skin is not the image I have for Hobbits... there are some theories about Hobbits origins, pretending they may have been a sub-race of the Edain of the First Age.... those were caucasian. Besides, some genetical explanation about skin color is usually related to the climat and geography, dark skinned would come from the south, in arid countries... Hobbits are from the north west of Endor, no human ethnies here are dark skinned....

Re: The Taproom

If I need a white man or woman to fit a role for something I still can use make up to make the skin lighter if need be. It's probably more to the point that this guy didn't like where she was originated from. To me she also don't seem to have a DARK skin colour. But what can you do, shit happens! tongue

Re: The Taproom

Puuh, the people around here have so many to say, that I get thirsty more often while reading.

And our barkeep is away! big_smile What does that mean?!

Let´s go downstairs and have a look what´s beyond that mystical door.

Maybe a caucasian woman . . . ?
Maybe that famous barrel of finest red wine  . . . ?

Hmmnn! Agreed Gildor, Keep racism out, but do not bow to modern political correctness roll just because it rears its ugly head once more! Hobbits were not black, end of!
And I agree, the lady in question is not too dark for my opinion.

Re: The Taproom

o.k. folk,

seems some humans really do not have humour or, like the journalist completely misunderstood this "case". It was just an idea of a female scientist to go to the casting and created a facebook group against racism in middle earth movies (especially in the shire!!) JUST FOR FUN!! But because this journalist as well as many other media agents got the scent of a good story took this seriously. How much political correctness do we need, guys?
Hobbits an Men are living in here at Bree and in the Pony peacefully as well as together with Elves, Ents, dwarves and other nice folk.
So what's up?

For german speaking ones you can find good information on this website (this network is very very close to the moviemakers and good sources): http://www.herr-der-ringe-film.de/v3/de … _59904.php
