Re: The Taproom

Blimey, I see from the latest Mithril newsletter that Ingold is up and running already! - and exactly as I wanted him! The Man must be (a) catching up with his backlog at speed, and (b) reading my mind (or at least my Fellowship posts). I like King Brand too. Two excellent figures that I shall order forthwith (I'm falling somewhat behind with my obligatory quota of Fellowship purchases, and these will help me catch up for a moderate outlay).

Re: The Taproom

The pictures look great, King Brand looks fantastic and Ingold as well (I agree Barli - he got that one out quick), BUT, and I hope it is the angle of the photograph that is causing the illusion, but Ingold's outstretched hand and torch seem rather large.

I can't see Chris having got it wrong so hopefully it is the camera angle and the foreshortening effect (I think that is the right word). Other than that another two fine figures.

Huuoommm .... another matter is that I'm in need of help .... rhuoommm ... somehow it occurred that my tiny sheet of paper on which I kept record about the still-to-come GF-releases went lost ... rhuoooommmm .... somewhere .... hom ... tiny it was indeed .... hom ... so, ahem, is there anybody who remembers the future? ... some Witch-king in his true form and Theodred should be next, as far as I can recall ... huooommmm .... but what about the other metal pieces that were chosen .... huommm ... no, Master Barliman, don't try to remember as your memory ... well, you know .... but maybe someone else ...

Re: The Taproom

Ah, that Elf is the cat's whiskers, isn't he? Everything exactly where we need to find it. Excellent. And what's all that about my memory, Master Tree? Anyone would think I forgot things.

On the subject of GF figures, this month's round one voting is proving to be the usual scatter-gun affair. Only Thomas the Troll has a clear lead, and it's impossible as yet to predict who'll join him in round two.

Huooommmmm .... thank you Master Gildor .... I should have remembered that .... rhuoommm ... I just did not know where to put that 'King Brand' ... hom.

As for you, Master Barliman, there was no criticism implied ... huom ... none at all, as we all know you're a worthy man ... huomrhuoomm ... I just didn't want you being distracted too much from your busy job around here .... hom.
And as for tiny Thomas I would like to remind you that voting has not ended so far ... huom ...  so one shouldn't haste with predictions of any kind, methinks .... hom.

Re: The Taproom

I think that it would be hard for Thomas the Troll NOT to be in the second round of voting, being so far ahead at the moment.

Re: The Taproom

The list is gradually getting longer, certainly, but it still has some way to go before it reaches the "old" MMP total. I hope the newcomers will make themselves known soon - a few fresh faces in the bar will be welcome. But I should warn anyone coming in by the main door NOT to wipe their feet on the wargskin rugs if they still want to have feet afterwards - they've been a bit frisky lately.

Huoommm ... though a few fresh faces in the bar will be welcomed by me too that could mean that Master Barliman then would have to reconsider the size and capability of his premises methinks ... huom.

Re: The Taproom

I'm not sure the Man in the Dark even comes here any more - I haven't seen or heard him for quite a while - not that that means much in his case. He seems able to slip in and have his feet up on one of my nice clean tables before I even know he's around.

You seem to think we need another bar, Master Tree - though I'm not sure why. Is it so that we can lock the wargskin rugs in here where they can't savage anyone's ankles?

Re: The Taproom

Yes, please, the darker the better. As long as Nob can still find his way to my table with a tankard of ale, er scrumpy . . .

And worthy Barliman, Gary Gygax was the co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons; and although I think the two certainly knew each other, it is Pete Fenlon who gets primary credit for starting and maintaining MERP. Of course many wonderful people such as Michael martinez and Chris Seeman were major contributors. Indeed, it was a fortuitous meeting between Pete Fenlon and our favorite sculptor, the man himself, which resulted in the launch of the Mithril Miniature line, now some twenty years ago!

Speaking of that, Master Ent (I'm talkative after being quiet here in my corner for so long), have we any word from Chris or Michael on the release expectations of the Anniversary Figure?

PS. I certainly do come and go Barli, but you are so busy you probably hardly notice.

Re: The Taproom

Ah, I was wondering who the mysterious Man in the Dark was!  And he is an afficionado of RPGs, by the sound of it!

An interesting fellowship vote, as always - dang I've missed those things.  A shame to see the fellowship still hasn't made a Bombur yet, although when we do, we'll have to track down Mithrandir - has anyone got any idea where he ended up?

PS - thanks for the title, Wendy - but I suspect 'Apprentice' is more appropriate wink.

Re: The Taproom

I think the problem is that I've become a fashion-victim and have started wearing shades in the bar, because Nob says they "look cool", and it gets very hot in here at times. The fact that I can't see into the corners any more is an inconvenient side-effect. But then, that's what my woolly-footed (or in Nob's case woolly-headed) staff are for.

Regarding your enquiry about Mithrandir, there was a brief discussion about his disappearance in one of the other parlours:

http://mmp.faerylands.eu/viewtopic.php?id=31

- but the cause of his vanishment and his whereabouts remain a sad mystery. Needless to say, his badgering for a Bombur figure crossed my mind as I suggested the short-and-fat one this month.

Welcome and cheers Master Fangorn!
Master Ent found his forrest, or did the forrest find his Ent???big_smile
Well Master Ent, I'll buy you one of these appely honey-coloured liquids and we wait for the other one to arrive.
By the way Master Barliman, it is not important what the celebration is all about, it is important to celebrate no matter what!big_smile

Where there is a will there is a way, just as there are no problems, only solutions! Guess it depends on ones own perspective of the matter at that time big_smile
