Re: The Taproom

You'll have to suggest him for next month! Can two Dwarves win in a row? Perhaps we shall  get a chance to see. And congrats to Master Erchamion.

Re: The Taproom

I wonder if in a twist of artistic flurry, Chris forgets himself and includes as a 'freebie' extra, the Balrog as it is about to remove Durin from the gene-pool tongue

Well he has included a couple of 'bonus' figures in the past hasn't he?

Anyhow, this exchange rate business is a bit of a pain, I'm five behind at the moment, better do some serious balancing of the books hmm

Congrats to Durin, against the grain I didn't vote for him (which means I voted for a female character yikes ), but I shall be interested in what emerges.

Congratulations erchamion! I am sure Chris will make a fabulous piece, and I will certainly buy him.

Re: The Taproom

Master Dave, your attraction to female orcs worries me...have you sought therapy? I'm sure there are things that can be done about it these days. Of course, it may simply be the result of drinking too much scrumpy. Certainly hasn't done my eyesight a lot of good over the years.

Well as long as you leave before you sober up big_smile. Actually I thought that figure may have been a good 'study' for Chris to have produced to see how it was interpreted.

Re: The Taproom

Can't say I'm entirely happy about Master Michael adding yet another limitation on what we're 'allowed' to suggest in the Fellowship polls, but I guess he means well, and he does have a point - there is an increasing amount of repetition month by month, though that's pretty inevitable if people want to see certain figures produced.

But coming up with figures that have never been suggested before - wow, that's certainly a challenge. Just look at Master Axel's impressive archive list on the Mithril website! There can't be many contenders left.

Re: The Taproom

Agreed Barli, perhaps another indication that he isn't well versed in the books. I can understand requesting single figures for Chris' sake, but only new ideas? If Michael wants more participation this is the wrong way to go about it. Perhaps this would have been Bombur's month, or even the assassin's. In fact, I think the top ten figures I'd still like to see have already been suggested. What does he want? Another WitchKing, Gandalf, Boromir, Aragorn, Nazgul, Eowyn, etc..... in a different pose not previously suggested? For the first time since I joined the FG I may go against my own rule and not bother with a suggestion this month--very discouraging! (que lastima!).

On the other hand, I'll probably just ignore his request and suggest whatever the hell I want to! Give me another scrumpy, I don't care if it has rat hair in it, I'm just in that kind of mood!

Re: The Taproom

Why not go completely the other way: only figures once suggested are allowed, that means we have to chose from a list ? I mean, there are so many great ideas in the list....

I cannot see an argument pro "only new suggestions".

Perhaps somebody should say as much to Master Michael...?

But I've stuck my neck out enough times, methinks. It's someone else's turn!

mmhh maybe I am blind but where does he mention it can only be new ideas? I did not see that on the post (or maybe he changed it already?)

On the newsletter, Gildor, no on the post wink

"I have noticed over the last 6 months that many of the ideas suggested, while valid and excellent in their own right, are repeats of previous months. Now I agree that presistance pays dividends but lets give our Fellowship a bit of a spring clean and ONLY suggest new ideas for March.
This does not mean we abandon older ideas, and they can be revisited later on.

The reason I suggest this is to avoid the voting becoming predictable and stagnant, with the same popular choices competing again and again. "

Re: The Taproom

ähem,
Gildor was just faster than me, but I was also confused, when I read Michael's intro to the March suggestion and I could not find a hint of "only new ones allowed".

Re: The Taproom

well this quote goes against the definition of th gold fellowship itself...
maybe it's only for march ... and it was not meant to upset us at all

Re: The Taproom

Might not have been meant to, but it has...

And it is rather gormless not to include this additional restriction in the blurb on the poll page itself.

I sense a new round of chaos approaching.

Re: The Taproom

I think the problem should be reported to Chris rather than Michael... that would have more weight... and Chris could then discuss it with Michael or explain himself to us all..

It will be interesting to see what Master Michael has to say when he gets round to it.

Huoommm ... he cannot try to avoid the Watcher(s) directly in that poll, meseems .... huoom.
though he might try to find another restriction for next month's suggestions ... huoomm ... "no watchers allowed" this month or something like that .... huoommm ... I dunno .... hommm ... I do hope that the procedure of choosing from the suggestions for the first run still is a matter of The Man himself ... rhuoommhuoommm ... as in the past we always had him quoted about his choice ... rhuoommhom ... in the past, I said ... as it has become common not to do that any more ... huoommm ... recently, I mean ... hommmmm ... maybe because of these restrictions it wasn't necessary to inform customers about severe changes directly in the thread  .... huommm ... it takes time to follow those trains of thought .... huoomm ... well, you know, I cannot haste everything, not even thoughts ... huoommm ...

Re: The Taproom

I rather get the impression that Master Michael doesn't actually give as much attention to the Fellowship as we might like. Perhaps his other fucntions at Mithril simply don't leave him with sufficient time to devote to the running of the polls.
