I think that waiting isn´t so good. Makes people uneasy unnecessarily...

We already have the answer of Michael. Reduces the price from € 9.99 to € 6.99 per figure. Continuing the discount on the purchase of lots of three figures (€ 18.87, so that each figure comes out to € 6.29) and there is no discount for buying the complete serie. Enough?
In my opinion, this is a more reasonable price increase but on the other hand I still conveying unease Michael´s comment has necessitated some hard measures which will enable us to keep afloat in these difficult times

Have seen it yet on the website. I am happy about that!!
It is very nice to do this, but what is the reason for that reaction? It seems arbitrary how the prices were created!

Yes, it does kind of, doesn't it? It rather suggests that the first mark-up was unnecessarily ambitious, and was plucked out of the air! Hopefully they've realised the error of their ways and won't do it again.

I have made another long post in reaction to the announcement... As a matter of fact I was aware of the content of this announcement before Michael posted it...
I'm trying to get in touch with Mithril staff someway or another to help them work out new sales/marketing strategies to solve the situation.
As I said in my post, a price reduction is cool at the moment, but that's only a short-term solution... Other actions must be undertaken in order to solve this long-term crisis of which we only see the surface it seems.
Hopefully I'll get to discuss, on a day-to-day basis with Mithril lead staff in order to try to find out, for them, appropriate long term solutions... I have ideas... lots of... and I have contacts too... In the Tolkien universe (I used to be part and still am somehow, of the msot important communities of Tolkien dedicated fans in France... Ardalië, which is my other website, is also a tolkien community/mailing list managed by my dear wife wirílomë, all over France and Canada actually... which counts among its ranks the official translators of all Tolkien books in french...and the worldwide specialists of Tolkien elven languages)
i'm putting all my energy in this project... so the trade engine for MMP will have to wait a bit I think... Mithril health goes first... if I can add my participation somehow...

Of course, these are good news. I will be able to order three more figures of that range
.
@ barliman: I am not sure if it was plucked out of the air. I have read Lars´words like this: " . . . we have decided to cut costs as much as possible in other areas "
I hope these areas aren´t fellowship areas . . .
It seems there will be that sword of that greek guy called Demoklas remaining . . .

We shall have to wait and see. At least I've now ordered some of the new M guys, and while I was doing that I decided to bite the bullet and also ordered the remaining two Fellowship figures to fulfil my obligations for last year. Ouch! It still hurt, though, even at the reduced prices - came out to about £120... Not something I can afford to do every day, I can tell you!

Well, Mithril now has a twitter page - this is a good start. Though there's only two followers. (search for Prince August in Twitter)
And I was going to suggest, drywall and general grumpiness permitting, that I could probably justify a 50% price increase on a figure, but certainly not 80%.
Well, now I got what I sort of kinda wanted. Though no price increase would have been nicer.
I just did a quick calculation of how much it will cost to get myself up to date with the ol Mithrils - 500 euro! (including shipping).
Eeek.
Maybe after the house is sold, or as a house-sold-birthday-christmas-present to myself. :p

This Twitter thingy seems a bit odd to me. Reminds me of that old Bree expression about "washing your socks in public". Why tell the whole world that you've been dumb enough to tick off your customers?
I also like the phraseology in the latest email from Mithril, claiming a "massive discount" of 30% on the Helm's Deep figures! Perhaps that's why they made them so expensive in the first place, so that they could then make it sound as if they're dropping their prices rather than putting them up?

Huooommmm ... I'm glad to hear that Mithril's giving -in in the prices seems to allow more people to afford at least some more of the figures ... rhuooommm ... though Master Gildor is right saying that this only is a short-term effect that pleases customers .... hoommm ... as Master O'Brian pointed out all this was only possible because of certain cuts in other areas ... huom ...
So, now what about those drinks you promised, Master Barliman? ....

What about the rumour you promised, Master Tree...?

Well, the response from Mithril was indeed swift and welcome, so it's nice to know they listen to the core customers. Now, I feel that I should encourage this discourse by placing an order for the Helm's deep stuff, and maybe catch up on a few others. I'm in the same boat as Gavin, waaaay behind what I can currently afford!

I was happy to see Mithril prominently displayed on a miniatures website (Miniature Heroes).
This kind of thing is great advertising (as long as enough people see it).
See link below.

You know guys, I hate to say this, but I may not be able to keep collecting these great miniatures anymore.
I am hitting on hard times right now and I don't see an end in sight. I so want to keep getting miniatures, but don't have the cash flow to allow that! I need to feed my family first and have a home to live, so I may stop collecting. I am glad that the prices went down, but it still isn't enough for me. I will keep posting what minis I do have when they are painted, but I don't really know how much longer I can keep up with all of you.
Maybe things might change for me, but I really have to be realistic about my life right now.

Jason - thanks for sharing that. In today's times collecting is truly a luxury. Life is very cyclical, so hopefully things will get back to where you want them to be and you'll be able to collect again. You sound like your priorities are in the right place. Your family is lucky to have you.
In the meanwhile, keep on painting! And keep on posting.

... and keep your collection, otherwise one day when times are better you would regret it. -Ben

I repeat George's and protozeus' thoughts, keep on painting and posting; collect when you can; sell only if you have to.

Alternatively, get rid of the family and indulge yourself...

As long as you are here Barli, so late at night, I'll take another ale.

Late at night? I think you're on the wrong side of the counter., my itinerant friend. It's early morning here in Bree.

Jason, stop buy for a while but don´t forget to paint. When better times return, you can resume the purchase. But above all, don´t leave this forum. The economic crisis doesn´t have to reach out to friends .....

That makes me kinda sad, Jason. You are a great man. But I agree to George and Ben totally. We won´t loose you. That´s for sure !
Remember, you have to inform us about your great Helm´s Deep project and all the other works in progress you are not aware at present . . . but tomorrow . . .
As far as I am concerned I rebuild my complete range the third time . . .

Three times? Wow. That must require stamina! - no to mention determination.
