The Sneaky Project

Hi all,

I've heard this year, in the Spanish Golden Demon (the Games Workshop gaming day), there will be an amazing Hobbiton table. A friend of mine has already decieved me to go there with him, so my wicked mind began to think... wouldn't be cool to have a photo of one of my miniatures in that wonderful table?

But taking one of my GW Hobbits there (yes, I have some, they're the right size) would be way too easy. What I need to spice things up is a Mithil Hobbit! GW minions don't allow anything but their own stuff, but along with a brave Mithril Hobbit I will defy them and take a picture of my Hobbit in Hobbiton!

For such a task, I need an exceptional Hobbit. One eager to face risk and perils untold, swift footed to run if the enemy outnumber us, sneaky and brave. I've chosen the Hobbit adventurer riding his trusted pony for the task at hand.

The GD will be hold on July 3rd, so I have one month to paint my Hobbit. Expect an update every two weeks.

There is not much to see for the moment, as I'm quite a slow painter.

I've drilled the space between the reins, under the pony's mouth:

You can see here how Hobbiton is being created for the gaming day (it's in Spanish, but there are some nice photos).

First step is taken!

This is the right thing, Master Arthadan. I do the same with all of my horses.
Though it is very hard to drill . . .

Good luck with your project. I keep an eye of it !!! big_smile

I did once ask CT if reins could be cast as separate strips of metal, but sadly it wasn't considered to be practical from a casting process hmm So me too, I have to drill and cut these bits out!

Well, obviously Master Ebob found the right way of casting . . .   cool

How brilliant his horses are . . . unfortunately too small, because of their 28mm scale.  sad

Re: The Sneaky Project

Thanks all for the good wishes!

This is how I'd like to paint the pony:

I'll try to give it the "fur" effect, we'll see if it works.

I'm not happy with the fur, I think it works better in the white strip in the head because contrast between the grey and white is less strong than in the brown part. I'll wash all the brown fur with a dark red tone to decrease the contrast and then I'll go on painting all the fur again. I wasn't kidding when I said I am an slow painter, you see tongue

Thanks Master Milo!

New update... almost there!

I have to "tidy up" the rider, finish the cloak and some little things here and there (and the base, of course).

Re: The Sneaky Project

Great Job! I guess, there will be some kind of jalousy around the Hobbiton table !

Re: The Sneaky Project

Very nice painting!

Given the intolerance of GW regarding even bringing other companies' minis to their store, this will be quite a coup.  Hehehe....  Can't wait to see the foto of the table.  big_smile

Have fun looking at all the nicely painted figures while you're at GD...even if they are all made by GW.  I imagine JMPN and Dieguete will be there...
