Re: THE TAPROOM 2

about M125, as far as I remember quendil, this is an existing "variant" of the M125. I don't have a pic myself I think but this remains a M125 slightly different, if you can provide me with a pic I can post it.

There are several variants throughout the whole M range, especially with re-releases in boxed sets or as MC. (M86,M138,M145,M146 and M260 have variants and maybe others too like MW337 horse captain)
not to mention three MX which have special limited variants too... Burzash, Imrahil, and the Unexpected Party.

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

well I have "uniques" in my galery (not the database , the gallery module) ; the Old MMP site by Mithrandir had also pictures of variants... but I do not have all those pictures of variants... that's a good point... if people have pics of the variants I'll gladly open a gallery (not database entries thoguh I will add comments in their descriptions, since these are not "other figurines but slight variations only for collecting purpose only")

I admit I myself do not possess variants except those of the MX...

My M125 is the standard one (I remember buying it in 1990), and it is the same as Quendil described, ie has his sword sculpted across his front rather (see http://membres.multimania.fr/mithril59/m125.htm).
To me, M125 picture in MMP database is the variant as I never saw any like this anywhere else.

And about 138,M145,M146 and M260 variants, can you please tell me more so that I fill lostminiwiki gallery ?

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

damn you are right, my own m125 has the sword on its forefront too... well the picture from the database comes from the datasheet of Mithril (those pages from the catalogues) and is indeed the variant... but at the same time it is the "official picture" published by Mithril for this reference... quite odd isn't it?

I updated the database for M125

about the other ones, the pictures can be found in Zoetrop magazine but I would maybe need to scan them

well some pics I saw on the miniature workshop seem to have suffered a lot from lead rott...

as for collecting... I am quite a fan and collector of.... Sauron representation, and I am still after the two references (from citadel or ral partha) of Sauron afoot holding the palandir, and Sauron on his trone (with the big eye and lots of roots on the throne)
they are not special nor really beautiful at all but well these are Sauron....

also, the Necromancer Sauron from GW is awful and I decided not to get it, but I have the one from the Last Alliance battlefield

and I'm quite happy to have suggested (and won) two Sauron representation from the Mithril GF range :)

[large]in the end master Daines may be right, I am somewhat a mouth of Sauron lol[/large]
(PS : @Gavin :  damn if I show my wife pics from Tom Meier figurines from the Game of Thrones she will ask me to buy the full range... she has become addict at RR.Martin Games of Thrones recently and keeps reading all the books...)

Meant in the nicest possible way Gildor from 'our' side of the fence - I imagine Lars & Co. must shudder when your emaisl appear in the Mithril 'In' box

Re the Heritage figures, many years ago I ordered these unseen and what a load of c**p they were - I thought then, and still do that they were the worst sculpted figures I had ever seen (I think I have binned them over the years). I also grabbed a couple of the 75mm figures at the same time (Gimli and Legolas) which I still have. Gimli was OK, but Legolas looked nothing like the film character and looked VERY effeminate!

Ah Barli, the Miniature Figurine Tolkien figures, difficult (for me) not to laugh at the orcs with Bay City Roller mail leggings etc. A shop did have very nice painted versions of these figures, but I was far too young to achieve even a passable rendition. I do however remember these with great fondness as they were my first 'sneak' purchase when I saw an Ad' in Military Modelling and raided my Post Office account for a postal order and the excitement of that little brown package arriving (without my dad finding out) was unbeatable. :D

Ah, yes, those were the days when boxes from Minifigs arrived packed full of sawdust and you had to sift through it all to hunt down the figures packed inside. Great fun.

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

When I began to collect miniatures one of my first purchase was the Felowship box by Grenadier. Those were the days indeed.

Master Barliman, have yourself a drink and I'll have a mug of your finest beer (not that scrumpy for unaware travellers!) and another one for Master Quendil.

For the good old times!

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

well it's time for us people to support the HD2 if we want to see it released...

I have asked Michael to provide a pic of the range, if not I will ask Chris eventually if he allows me (or maybe some other than me) to display the picture of the full set on this forum... but without confirmation I can't yet...

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

mmmhh didn't you forget a "not" in your last sentence quendil?

besides all your points , though you may be unaware of it, have been discussed and mentionned many times around here, especially in the Angrenost section, read the "some news..." thread you will learn quite a lot of info
smile

at least we can suppose that all who vote for HD2 will buy it... which will give a little insight on how many "core buyers" there will be , though I don't think there will be a very high number alas...

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

I didn't vote for it (see my comments on the website), but I'd still buy it. I'm pretty sure all of us would buy whichever collection won, so long as the prices are right - but I'm equally sure a lot of us wouldn't buy it if the prices are wrong, etc, etc , etc. It's all been said already, hasn't it? So there's no point in saying it all again.

The next step in the "process" will be the interesting one....

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

mmmh, I am not quiete sure. Absolutely not.
Is it the right way to make it such easy for mithril voting for an already sculpted range . . . ?
I simply don´t know.
The other side: why not voting for a range that doesn´ t exist. There are brilliant suggestions out there.

Well, meanwhiling we all know  how does the HD2 look like. So- it´s up to us- fellows- to vote.
Still- I do not know what to do . . .

Mmmh, you are not voting, Master Barliman?!  So I have to leave the pony and have another toilsome log-in on the official board to look for your comment.
Could take some time. Maybe there is a little take-away-scrumpy for that reason . . .

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

It is I who suggested to Chris in the first place to allow for the HD2 to be among the possible suggestions to be released... not an idea from Lars, or we would certainly never had seen the HD2 at all...

either this or send it to oblivion... at the time being I know Lars is not doing a lot of things to satisfy us at all but I thought in the first place that it was the "salvation" way to have those damn HD2 released...

even if the project in the end , is a failure... it will have allowed AT LEAST, to have the HD2 released... at what cost, no one knows yet... but released

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

I don't know if Mithril is really trying that hard to stay in buisness. I mean, why are they so difficult in trying to please there current customers? It just seems to me that after reading everything they have said and everything all of you have said, they still are making excuses.

What are they waiting for? They surely are not overworked. I just thought I would post my two cents, since I really haven't said anything about this whole thing.

And those prices! Their are only going to be a few of us who will be able to afford them. I for one will not be able to. I really do want to get these ranges, but I just don't have that kind of money laying around. I think all of you fine outstanding people are doing a great job and I am behind your decisions, but what Mithril is doing.......I really think they are trying to be greedy. That is what I think personally.

Anyway, enough of my ranting.

Give me a barrel of scrumpy, Barliman! I am thirsty!
