Fresh blackberries today.... in my part of Hobbiton blackberries also growing....in my village near by the forrest.... raspberries also... Tomorrow I will pick them in the thorny bushes a bit. And yes! We'll do some muffins in the evening. Great idea dear Hobbit friend....

That's late. The blackberries here in Bree have been and gone, and I can't even remember the last time I saw raspberries growing anywhere round here. But when I was young there were gooseberries, greengages and even hops. Haven't seen any of them growing in the wild since I was a child, and that's....let's say a while ago. Very sad. Damn intensive farming, crop-spraying and the destruction of hedgerows!! - unbelievably we're losing close on 2,000 miles of hedgerows in this country every year....and it's not even a very big country. Don't even get me started.......

huoomm ... very sad indeed, also from a point of view of a tree ... huom ... so I might be able to understand your anger, Master Barliman ... huoomm ... and with that I share your worries about losing so many hedgerows around Bree every year ... huoom
