Surely Hobbits can only take "short" rests?

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

One more exam of this term.

One.

Spent the day inside (it was gorgeous out). Occasionally took breaks from dull tome of Political Science to paint the last few plastic dwarves.

My rather expensive Winsor and Newton Series 7 fell off the desk. I reached for it. It rolled away. I grabbed for it. It rolled under the radiator and then fell behind the  little gap between the hardwood flooring and the wall.

So yes, I spent about half an hour on this last day before the exams, flat on the floor teasing a paintbrush out of a mysterious crack.

Those cracks are lethal. I lost some decapitated mithril heads in my old place that way. Still sad about that :p

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

Look upon it as some sort of Zen exercise to calm the mind prior to the trauma of exam day. Or perhaps as an obscure metaphor for life...

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

I am going with obscure metaphor, meself.

Finished the damn dwarves today. Between the not-great plastic casting and the Army Painter spray primer faintly melting some of the features, I feel like I have accomplished some sort of vague ordeal, rather than creating something I can brag about.

But maybe I'll get some amusing battles out of it. Or they'll go into a case and disappear from consciousness. One of those :p

Right, off to the final exam I go. And then nine whole days of not-school. Nine! Will bike a lot and write like a maniac.

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

Went okayyiish.

Part of the issue is that, outside of my comfort zone - history - things get a bit messy. I'll still know everything, still construct essays well, but something essential won't quite be there. Do I address the dominant theories, can I rattle off details that someone in that field might know better? I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the difference between Tudor and Renaissance architecture as it exist in Montreal... and all I can say is I think some architect told the commissioning people "this is really Tudor, honest, gov" big_smile Yesterday in the PoliSci exam, I was desperately trying to remember Weber's three essential factors for legitimate statehood. I could manage two :p

Anyway, I am quite content in the knowledge that lots of people quit early and stormed out and I hung around like a good little student to the very end. I also dressed up for the occasion.

Either works, yes.

In the end, I scrubbed down the bathroom, did the groceries and worked on editing someone's webpage content. Oh well smile

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

It tends to be mildly cooler. Then its just a matter of not being hit by cars and not hitting Jazz Festival tourists.

In other news, I splashed out 18 dollars and got some Wargames Factory Orcs - you know the odd, made in China plastic figures which look eerily like the figures from the Mirkwood MERP supplement, illustrated by Angus McBride? In the flesh, they are not bad at all.  I think I'll use them as cheap and cheerful Mithril-replacement Orcs of Mirkwood. Since the non cheap, non cheerful ones were nicked and all.  Nice bit of detailing on them that most photos don't do justice to.

Anyway, beyond all that: happy Canada Day.

Or moving day, as we call it hereabouts.

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

I also bought the orc pack based on their look-like of McBride drawing. A good quality/price ration I dare to say.

Master Barliman, I offer a round to everyone in The Tavern as I got my second Chinese Mandarin studies diploma :-)

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

Younger during my intensive RPG period, I was nearly fluent in Quenya and able to write Tengwars.
Far more interesting but alas far less useful
