Re: THE TAPROOM 3

You mean "how fat you are", not "fit". All hobbits are a tad rotund - it's their job description.

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

Hello friends! Hard times in the world!

Let's have a few drinks and good food (as good as it gets in the Pony, anyway), and finish with some pipe weed.

I will pay for the drink round, Barli. And I certainly will share my Southfarthing. But I'm afraid I can't afford to buy everyone their meals--especially those voracious hobbits! :-)

Mind what you say, or Nob may bite your kneecaps.

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

Angbor

Just seen the new Angbor figure on the Newsletter - I like the clothing/equipment detail Chris has put into it though not 100% sure if the Romanesque helmet comb is Middle-Earthish, nor, if it is not the camera angle, am I 100% keen on what looks to be a curved bladed sword/scimitar as I prefer my armies of the West to have straight swords.

Is the pose 'right' for the accompanying description? Angbor seems not to have been involved in the fighting so why a fighting pose? That said I like the figure and the points mentioned purely a personal opinion wink

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

His Romanesque helmet and pose don't bother me as much as the fact that Angbor should be depicted as a horseman, to judge from the sparse refs to him in LOTR. So on that basis I'm disappointed, though the artistry of the sculpt is very nice.

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

huooommm ... you see, Master Ddaines, that's why I never comment on those lousy, tiny pics as you never can be sure ... huom ... it's better to wait a while until you can hold a figure in your hands (that's why I was surprised in a positive way about that Golasgil-figure) ... huom ... the only thing you can say for sure is that Angbor (unfortunately) is not a mounted figure ... hom ...

Unfortunately indeed, but he's still a very nice sculpt, and I shall doubtless buy him (or persuade Mrs B to buy him for me...).

Don't get me wrong, I do like it, I just hope that whenever I finally get to paint it (and buy it) I don't keep thinking it is a Roman big_smile

It also reminded me a Roman... lol but it seems a rather detailed sculpt though

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

It's bloody freezing here too. The pond in the yard hs frozen, and the ground is covered in that white powdery stuff that looks like the dandruff off Nob's feet - no, not snow, but thick frost. So, I think we can take it as confirmed that, whatever the calendars say, autumn is over and winter is here. Personally I'm going to sit here by the fire for a bit and have a mulled wine to start the day - anyone want to join me? Then I'm going to paint some minis (I've got a few days off, and I intend to make the most of them).

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

Indeed, here has make it's presence too, no that much cold but at least 8-10 degrees less than two days ago. I will need gloves for the bike tomorrow.... brrrr..
Is there some warm wine left? I will take a sit near that fire too if you don't mind.

Re: THE TAPROOM 3

Let's celebrate that Ori is bringing in a new life in few months and wish that everything goes perfect. I invite a round and maybe we can roast a mutton and a chicken .... (I do not like mutton xD) and celebrate a little brotherhood dinner...

It's too wet for mine - the rainwater is flowing over the tops of my boots and wetting my socks.
