Hi fellows,
I wish to show you part of my works.
M14 - Arthedain captain
Fisrt of all, this is my very first Mithril Miniature I bought and it's still one off my favourites.
I painted this miniature in 1988 when I was 15 years old.
Since, I lost it's shield and sheath. I replaced missing shield by a plastic one and I sculpted a new sheath out of balsa in 2001.
if someone has either arthedain shield and/or its sheath, contact me, I will pay for it !)

Oh, I am afraid there is something wrong. May I help you. You have to go to:"upload image" at the very top of the side. Then you have to choose your file . . .
You have to wait a little bit, after that you have to copy that file-code into your "field". Good luck !

Thanks Christoph !
I just read that you're working on Moria.
I started such diorama in 1994. I finished last Orcs painting in 1998 !
It contains the following sets:
M124 - Strider
M125 - Gandalf
M128 - Boromir
M149 - Half-troll commander
M150 - Uruk
M151 - Orcs of Mordor
MB300 - The Balrog of Moria
M309 - Orc warband leader
M310 - Mordor Orc standard-bearer
M311 - Mordor Orc archers
M313 - Armoured Orcs (axe/warhammer)
M328 - Lugburz Orc tracker
M331 - Lugburz Orc fighting
M333 - Lugburz great Uruk
M334 - Lugburz captain w/whip
M335 - Snagas (small Orcs)
It is not complete yet as I intend to add behind Aragorn and Boromir Exit stairs with the other members of the fellowship
(M123 - Frodo & Sam, M126 - Legolas, M127 - Gimli, M129 - Merry & Pippin)
I thinked also of adding a cathedral's roof with red lighting but I do not have time anymore (maybe when I am retired)
Here is what is looks like:

More pictures on khazad-dum_bridge:
Column are sculpted out of balsa square sections. A long, very long time it take to obtain 4 hexagonal hollow pilars !
Both sides are in polystyrene, covered with plaster, and painted.
The bridge is made of clay, sculpted and painted.
Tiled floor is made of cardboard, each tile being rounded at corners, and painted.
Edge cliff shields are flat Warhamer plastics all painted one by one. I used Moria anvil model provided by JRR Tolkien on Moria's door illustration.
I don't know if you noticed the little fake diamond I added at gandalf's stick tip.
Enjoy it ?

About Moria, I also made this diorama (achieved in 1992).
It contains full Chamber of Marzabul set:
M281 - Strider fighting w/Orc chief
M282 - Legolas loosing arrow & Gimli
M283 - Boromir parrying w/Orc attacking
M284 - Cave Troll
M285 - Balin's tomb
M286 - Doorway
M287 - Sam & Frodo
M288 - Orc-archer & Orc w/spear
M289 - Gandalf casting spell
M290 - Merry & Pippin
"M232 - Gollum" was added looking behind the eastern door as he is always sneaking everywhere.
I also included "M312 - Mordor Orc drummer" as drums' are very present in the book at that moment.

Chamber of Marzabul:
Balin's tomb is coloured because I wanted to show the mountains during 24hours time with sun or Moon rising.
The front door
Torches were also burned and fixed to the wall by iron stands.[imgz]TBD[/imgz]
I created book with balsa + painted paper. Some opened book contain elfic or dwarvic runes. [imgz]TBD[/imgz]
Eastern door and the table are also made of balsa and waxed. [imgz]TBD[/imgz]
Shelves where found in my favourite mithril's shop, I can't remember any reference for it.[imgz]TBD[/imgz]
Walls are made of balsa, sculpted and painted.
Tiled floor here is made of plaster: I spreaded 3mm of plaster on a plastic stand. I let it dry and sculpted tiles one by one.
I like the result very much as it seems real once painted.

But the bridge of khazad-dum deserves special comment... so this is magnificent. Nice composition and choice of miniatures. Decoration on diorama is quite amazing and I hope we would see more than one fight made by yours imagination.
Ouuuh i like this...
and for Arthedain captain... 15 years old at 1988 means that you are 37 years old like me... so we have something more than miniatures in common
Offline
.... and finally Chamber of Marzabul... also great diorama... and I have one question... where have you bought this thumb... those walls and other parts of diorama decoration.
Thanks for your answer and... those first topic of you are really great.

Hi Milo--very nice indeed! I wish that I had the skill (and time!) to make these big projects. But it is very nice to see them from others here.

Yes, Master Milo, I do like all of what you provided here very much. It's interesting to meet people who also have been busy with painting Mithrils and diorama-making for such a long time.
So I think you have found the right place here after all these years. You will enjoy.

Hello again,
Thanks to all of you for congratulations. I'm glad you like my work.
I resized above images to improve its display on screen. I updated previous posts with more explanation on how I did Moria dioramas. All is hand made with balsa, polystyrene, plaster and natural stuff.
Thingol : I'm not 37 yet
twrich: You are absolutely right. I painted a lot when I was a student, with plenty of time (and no budget apart for getting some ale! ). Since I have 2 wonderful children, I work full time, I spend my time in improving housing conditions.I only could paint a douzen of miniatures for the past 10 years...
Theobald: Master Ent, it seems yes that this is the place to be. I think I met one of yours somehow in Fangorn. I found this photo in my album.

This is the last painting I did (in 2008).
M303 - Great Eagle attacking Orc
For the eagle stand, I used a broken chemical pipette.

M343 - Aragorn's leave-taking
M344 - Elven flower-maidens
These Two miniatures were extracted from an elvish diorama I did in 1999:
Originaly, there was a hill, some trees, a river, a wooden brigde, flowers everywhere, and many elves around Aragorn's leave-taking.
Unfortunately, it got destroyed during a move so I took out every miniatures and put them back on its pedestal.
I may one day rebuild the all set...
