Re: The Taproom

Huoommm ... done .... now it reads "No credit at all" ... rhuom ... then I put that scratchily cat inside the kennel and placed both next to the gate, as you suggested .... huoommm ... so, I think my work's done with improving the outside of your premises making it a bit more more attractive ... huom ... I really don't want to boast, but ... the entrance looks fine now ... hom ...

Re: The Taproom

I'm surprised there was room for the cat as well as Nob in the kennel. Maybe the cat will use Nob as a cushion.

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm ... rhuom? ... the word "both" meant the kennel and the cat ... huoommm ... I had to re-arrange things, as there was no dog being found in or around the "Pony", that's why I tried to convince the cat to stay in that nice kennel (very fine craftsmanship, Master Barliman, using all that rotten wood from your lumber room to create a new home for Nob ? )... rhuoommm ... huom ... that sign also has to be changed ... err ... "beware of the cat" now comes closer to reality ... grruoohhmmhuom ... but as you mentioned Nob ... alas ... huoommmm ... where did I put him? ... huomm ... see, I've been a bit in a hurry doing all this .... rhuoommm ... so it's time to go inside again and have a bowl-of-you-know-what ... rhuooommmm ... all this work leaves you having a dry throat ... huoommm ... I'm just glad I don't have to do such things very often ... rhuoomm .... ? see, from the inside nothing has changed ... huommm ... anyway, I need to rest for a while ... hûûûommmmrhuommmmmMmmm mmm ...

Re: The Taproom

I think that people need more to beware of Nob than the cat. The cat doesn't bite your ankles. That's why I built Nob the kennel.

Re: The Taproom

Hmm, I had a look at the kennel, but I only could see a large furball......
Now I don't know did the cat eat Nob and curled up, or did Nob eat the cat and the furball is the left over????

Neither. What you took for a furball is actually Nob.

Re: The Taproom

Rhuoommmm ... thank you for keeping me busy ... grrrrhuoommm ... so that fuzzy thing inside the kennel is Nob? right? ... but where's that cat? .... HUOOMMM ... I know I placed some furry-scratchily-thing somewhere lately ... huom ... anyway, I have to correct the sign outside again which then will read "Beware of the furball" ... huom ... but when that's done, please let me take some rest, as I'm not payed for all that effort ... rhuoommm ... I'm just a regular in here wanting to enjoy a nice bowl of ... alas, you know what ... huomm

Re: The Taproom

Actually, it may save a lot of time (and lawsuits) if you just put up a sign saying "Beware of everything". I think that's what insurance companies call "comprehensive coverage" (or in layman's terms "We're not going to pay out on anything. No way. Never. Didn't you read the small print?" etc.).

Re: The Taproom

Huoommmm ... done ... though I reduced the words of the sign, leaving out the last two words again ... so it reads "Beware" now, which makes it easier to read and understand ... I ripped off all the other signs, placed the kennel with the furball in one of the stables in the backyard ... rhuoomm ... so, well , huom ... all this effort now is reduced to a single word "Beware" ... rhuoommm ... that's what we trees do like very much ... rhuoomm ... take your time to wisely judge upon certain matters, think over alternatives, discuss all this in an Enthing, then take your time to consider each and every aspect again, that way bringing in new ideas that have also be considered and re-considered ... rhuoomm ... but you can be sure, that someday, someway there'll be a conclusion ... hoooommmm
Ahem, I think I better leave now, because my leaves have started to leave me tree ... hom ...

Re: The Taproom

(I'd just like to say I have been a bit Harsh with my comments on this month vote for MS suggestion, I hope people won't be angry with me it is not oriented towards anybody... I don't even remember who submitted the idea of the warg but I had to be honest and said what was on my heart about this matter)

this leads me to encourage you to go and vote if you have not yet done, in the Angrenost section so that I can mail Chris with results as soon as possible

Re: The Taproom

Huoommmm ... Master Gildor, I don't think you were too harsh with your comment on the GF-Board ... huoommm ... I'm of the same opinion and do feel the same about collecting as you pointed out ... rhuom ...
But this leads to another thought ... rhuoommm ... about those "bonus-figures" for collecting the MS-releases ... huom ... two do exist by now ... gruommm ... I'm not good at all in artithmetics, you know ... but isn't there some lack? ... on the other hand I wouldn't be very much interested in any more copy-versions of another Gandalf-figure or another Isildur-variant ... huoomm ...
and still I hope the tradition of providing "Christmas-Figures" will be kept up ... hommmm

Re: The Taproom

The only thing I keep wondering is, what figures should people suggest, then? If they're not allowed to suggest what they want, then why should they bother to suggest anything? Everyone's wants and desires are equally relevant, and surely we have to respect and accept that. We may not agree with what they want, of course, and I find that I rarely do, but that's not really the point.

Re: The Taproom

that's why I said it was MY point of view and did not ask anybody to follow it smile

I won't deny the liberty of suggesting to any people, but I must point out that if all those people suggesting "regulars" would go and write in public forums, go and write to Michael in private to force Mithril to release regulars or give statement on the process.. that would be more productive ...
Who has written to Chris and Michael for half a dozen times to complain about  the lack of mithril promotion and mithril releases? who goes at them to show how they are upset?

no instead we see suggestions from people whom I don't see fighting for things to change regarding releases...

I have nothing against being a "fer-de-lance" but only if people officially support the ideas I try to explain to Mithril...

Re: The Taproom

Huooommmm ... so, right you are Master Barliman, very right indeed ... huoommm ... it took a good while until I placed my first suggestion ... huom ... wasn't it you who asked me to place one? ... rhuommm ... up to then I did never ever suggest anything but kept to voting regularly ... huoommm ... but since then I somehow stuck to that Tarannon-idea ... huom three times it was, if I do remember well, after the female orc failed ... but I'll give up that nasty habit of mine immediately... rhuoommm ...
Maybe you got me wrong when I referred to the choice for the 'bonus figures' in my last entry ... rhuommm ...

Re: The Taproom

(I know about you master Theobald smile indeed I do but like me, you are not among those who suggest regulards as MS, but who try to make it so that regulars appear once again... Why people would carry on suggesting what they like the most on a regular basis but not on an special basis for MS still confuses me... Call it what you want, but what I see here is people wanting to see a figurine released no matter the format....

I DO care for the format... the range... because if things carry on this way, MS will be regulars and special mixed up together and no more regulars ever...

I fight for the separation of regulars as opposed to Specials... if it means I have to abandon ideas of regulars I'd like to see realised too well I do it... and I concentrate all this strength of conviction at Mithril and Lars harassing them if need be so that regulars begin to be released again...

Egoïsm in trying to concentrate all your wishes no matter how common they may be in the MS program is not only killing the regulars, it is killing mithril...

BUT CAN'T ANYBODY SEE IT?? GODDAMN....

Re: The Taproom

Have this drink on me, Master Elf. I think you need it!

At the end of the day you must always remember - and accept, however grudgingly - that for most GF members, collecting Mithrils is just a hobby. No more and no less. It doesn't matter how loud you shout at them, or how many times you write to people who might (or might not) listen, you just have to accept that not everyone is as passionate about the matter as you are, or prepared to apply as much time and dedication. Nothing will ever change that. And you certainly are passionate! - I can feel the heat even down here in the cellar.

In the Real World what any one of us wants is never going to be the same as what everyone else wants, however much we might want them to want the same things as we want. (Sorry, that sentence ran away with me a bit, but I think it comes out right...).

Besides, how can anyone suggesting any figure know whether or not what they're suggesting might one day end up as part of an M range? None of us have a Palantir. And in the absence of a guarantee that such an M release might happen, Mithril enthusiasts will always see the MS range as their one hope of ever seeing a particularly desired figure released.

Which, I suppose, brings us to the crunch question: What constitutes a worthwhile MS suggestion, and what doesn't? And who decides?

Please note that I've no "axe to grind", and am merely acting in the capacity of "Devil's advocate" here, if either of those metaphors has any meaning to non-Westron speakers.

Re: The Taproom

.... Maybe could be solution for one year voting program.... "Without voting with common characters” which are already few times on production for a last 22 years. This maybe could be avoid with themes which could be not declared as single figure, mounted figure, vignette or hobbit... it could be perhaps suggestion for the month with characters themes:

1. Kings of Gondor
2. Famous squires
3. Kings bearers
4. Big councils
5. Famous masters of famous middle earth towns
6. Heroes of Lorien....
7. Heroes of Gondor...
8. Heroes of Rivendel...
9. Heroes of Northen kingdom...
1. Heroes of Harad
11. Famous orcs commanders
12. ….. etc

Than in some month all of us who want to have some collectable figure not only figure suitable for RPG, could be satisfied.

Also Master Gildor you could place link on GF forum with connection for The Secret Vaults of Angrenost or just made on short presentation for all GF members so they could left here their wishes for regular M series suggestions where could be common figures wolfs, wargs, horses, town's people, regular orcs, trolls, hobbits, warriors, corsairs, army of dead...etc. And than let's MS could stay concentrated on point of MS.

I'm afraid and I share my opinion with Gildor that in short future through this way of suggesting mithril will become to expensive and finally pointless. And I'm sure that we do not want this. No mater if we are passionate collectors or just common hobby guys.

Gildor as you have good connections with Lars, Michael or with the Man himself, you could send them this suggestion for next voting round… they could choose all further steps than.

A drinks for everyone… please and for me one hobbit tea…

Re: The Taproom

thanks for your kind words Thingol but please consider that I have NO good connection with Lars Edman at all... I can't reach him no matter how... And Michael is only a middle-man... I have connections with Chris Tubb indeed but Chris has no decision in releasing ranges or not he has decision in PRODUCING ranges, not releasing them...

that's why helm's Deep part 2 and 3, and White Council are done.... but not yet released.... and won't be, no matter what Chris may say or not....
