Mae govannen master Ent,

would be mice to get one of those variants, even if I did not receive my "normal" Imrahil-MX. As I said, one of the best figures together with Halbarad Dunadan!!

Re: The Taproom

I am about the place, y'know. It's just that with all these extra parlours and rooms I'm a deal more rushed about than I used to be. If you need me just ring the bell and holler! And as you say, it is quiet in here at the moment, which is why I'm in here a little less often myself. I think the plain truth is that there's very little news at the moment - unless the Tree has any rumours he can offer up?

Huoommm ... thanks for the compliment, Master Estel. Yes indeed, that horsed ranger with the banner unfolded, once suggested by the Mistress Wendy, still is a masterpiece. ... huoommm ...and will be ... I always enjoyed the horse's feet ... those of a shire-horse ... and to be honest, I cannot keep a smile from my face whenever I see those feet because of the pun ...hommm ...

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm ... don't haste, Master Barliman. I can imagine what it means to take care of that many rooms  .... huoommm ... you must be extremely busy being absent here ... huooommm...
pardon me, please .... but could you keep from wiping the bar with Knob's cat, please? ... huomm ... that's fine ... thank you ... rhuoomm...
Alas ... rumours you want to have ... or facts? ... huommm ... I dunno.
I tried to start a discussion here today about placing one of the 30 Imrahil-lads on Ebay ... huommm ... as my son did suggest ... rhuoomm ... unfortunately I gave him one .... rhuoomm.
Rhuooommmmmhuooommhom ... hom ... I wanted to receive your ideas about that .... huoommm ... as I promised never to sell one of those lads ... huoomm ... do I break an oath in leaving him do as he suggested .... ? .... huuuomm ... but you can be sure about the fact that the others will be kept for regulars here and other dear friends .... huoommm.....
so, all of you, just tell me what to do about this until the end of May ... in case you feel concerened ... hom.

Re: The Taproom

I think you should keep to your orginal decision and not sell any of them. The only way to sell any of them would be if you needed money, but I think that you don't. Now what your son does with his copy, well that is his decision, but if it goes on ebay then there will be a lot of people wondering where did this one come from and are their more of them. hmm
I say don't do it! neutral

Re: The Taproom

"Curiosity Killed the cat" as we say - if you don't let him do it Master Ent you will always wonder just how much one may have sold for, allowing that what you give freely as a gift elsewhere will be kept as such and not ebayed!

Perhaps though it would be wise to wait until you have parted with the others in case listing too early on ebay gives a false indication of its true value.

Look at it as doing some market research for the good of the MMP database and not as an 'oath-breaker' as you do not want to be living in a twilight world waiting for the next King of Gondor to come along and release you from your oath roll.

While I'm in here though I'd best top up on some scrumpy please Barli as I've had a hard day in the garden as well as a stressful bid on ebay for a Balrog which I picked up for less than £5 (I was the only bidder, that's what was so stressful) a conversion is on the cards methinks once I get my little room back!

Well it's a hot bath and some good shire grub for me - Jacket Taters with some of Gollum's favourite fisssshhhes in it.

Re: The Taproom

thank you for that comment, jd. that's exactly how I just feel about this matter. I can keep him from doing so, we're a good match ... and as for the queries I received about that figure, because Master O'Brian published it (without letting me know) was more than you can imagine .... and that was only broadcasted by Mithril - not on Ebay. rhuuoommmm .... hommmm

Re: The Taproom

as I did a lot of gardening, too, today, Master Ddaines, together with my cat and my wife ... rhuoomm ... meseems you're right about certain things ... huoommm ... though I'm not doing any kind of 'market research' for the good of any (as I'm not an expert in these matters) I do appreciate and will consider your advice seriously ..... huoomm ...hom ...thank you for that. ...
rhuoommm ... but do you really see my fate as being to released from a next Gondorian king ...
huooommmmm .... yes, top it up, please, Master Barliman .... huoomm.

Re: The Taproom

Well, sometimes the acorn falls far from the tree, Master Ent...but more often than not it does not. As far as selling one goes, it would be interesting to watch.  It is been my observation that eBay listings generally give an average value, but with something like this, which is likely to only come up once (if at all), the price paid would be a dubious reflection of value.  It would have to come up more than once.  Even so, if your son is determined to do this he should at least wait until all of the regular MX releases have sold out.  Incidently, though my children are young, I will hope to prevail upon them as to the true value these Mithril, not as investments, but fine (miniature) works of art.  Before I had children, my worst fear was that after I'd passed to the uttermost West, someone would sell my hard won collection for 25 USD at my "estate sale"!  Of course, that could still happen!!!neutral

Re: The Taproom

I think you should do whatever you want with your figures, Master Tree, and not concern yourself with what anyone else thinks or does. If your son wants to sell his, then so be it. Why worry? Whatever he does, you haven't broken any promises, and everyone you know will realise that. Entings are always going to do what they want to do, regardless of what their elders might wish...

Re: The Taproom

Well, can any of you tell me where Nob is? I could use another ale; it goes so well with my smoke.

A gift given is just that.

I've been wondering where the scallywag is myself. He seems to have found somewhere  new to hide that I haven't discovered yet.

Re: The Taproom

That was a useful clue, Master Holger - I've found Nob: he was hiding in the cat's basket. That's the problem with employing these vertically challenged people. They're small enough to conceal themselves almost anywhere.

Sorry, Nob is on shovelling detail in the stable. Bob's cat is serving at the moment. He's OK with the taps, but you'll have to hold your own mug.

Furballs add body to scrumpy. And if you think the cat is talking to you then you've drunk a sight more of it than is good for you already...

Re: The Taproom

I'm afraid that, being a "reactionary old fogey" (according to Nob), I haven't even bothered to get one of these digital electronic imaging devices (though Mrs Barliman has one). Give me canvas and an easel any day! But I have to concede that my way of recording things is a tad slower, and perhaps not as accurate when it comes to recording the appearance of tiny metal men...
