Re: The Taproom

Just for the record, Master Tree, remind me when you last came up with a rumour.... In fact, we've been rather short on rumours all round, for quite a while. It's about time The Man leaked some more info for us.

Re: The Taproom

Huooommmm ... that's exactly what the rumour I was referring to is about, Master Barliman ... huoommm ... but, as you rather chose to keep me bowl empty for reasons I don't understand ...rhuommm ...  and instead of that keep on complaining about them dusted bar-tappely- things you always refer to ... rhuoommm ... errr ... ahem ... I really dunno when I last came up with a rumour indeed ... rhuom ... here you're right, Master Barliman ... huomm ...
I don't recall .... this rumour is about some series of books, as far as I know ... rhuoomm ... very interesting concept, by the way ... huoommm ... yes, The Man is involved, indeed ... huom
But this empty bowl .... what is it? ... rhuoommm ... ?

Re: The Taproom

I fear, Master Erchamion, that the Ent is being as enigmatic as usual. His rumours are generally so vague that you stand very little chance of figuring out what he's talking about, unless you already know the subject-matter yourself. Alas, since hundreds of thousands of books are published every year (more of them in the UK and Germany than in any other country in the world, I should add), the hint doesn't tell us much. Except that, presumably, these rumoured books are going to be relevant to Mithril and/or Priince August and/or Phaeton.

Now that I've filled your bowl, Master Tree, can you be a little less obscure? (well, you won't be after you've drunk it, so I thought I'd better ask now.)

Re: The Taproom

Huuoommmm ... enigmatic? ... obscure? ... me? ... Tree? .... rhuoomm ... not at all, Master Barliman ... huomm ... see, that's what rumours usually are about ... something you've heard of, not exactly being informed about each and every detail, just providing a part of a fact ... huom ...as for us that means, whenever I provide another part of a fact as a rumour I'll have another bowl, right? ... huoomm ... if I had provided this as a single fact, maybe I wouldn't have got a single bowl at all ... huommm ... but by saying it's a part of a romour, it's worth a bowl ... then, when I give away another part of it, it's worth a second bowl, right? .... rhuoomm ... then a third bit might even let you forget about those obscure bar-tabs you seem to regard as being mine ... huoommm ... err, if they're mine, why don't you give them back to me? ... huom ...
Huuuoooooommmmmmm .... nice bowl of liquid that was, Master Barliman, very nice indeed ... hom ... helped me a lot to get further access into your Breeish way of thinking .... rhuoommm...

Huuoommmm ... as for you, Master Erchamion, thank you for paying for that bowl ... huom ...  your first reaction includes a word that might contribute to that rumour very much ... rhuoommmm .... though I think it was rather more uttered as a first guess, maybe reveiling one of your many dreams ... rhuoommm ... ahem, by the by, I'm a male tree ..... rhuoommmmm ...

lollollolA male tree!lollollol
Sorry Master Ent, I always had the believe that trees are complete within themselfs and there for they are both, male and female. But that might be different with Ents and because you are the only one I met so far, I really can't tell.roll
A Bowl of water for my friend the Wisest of Ents! Cheers!

Re: The Taproom

Huuoommm ... thank you very much, Master Hsf62, for that bowl of water ... huoommm ... as for trees I have to tell you that there are different ones, as you might witness whenever you look around you ... huoommm ... very much different indeed ... huom ... I am not talking about all those palm trees you felled and now cannot see anymore ... rhuoomm ... Master Tolkien mentioned that Ents were looking for the lost Entwives for quite a while .... huom ... so, Ents are either male or female ... huommm ... and not at all satisfied with themselves ... rhuoomm ....
just ask the two young ones standing in the University Parks in Oxford, once you get there .... huoomm ... maybe Telperion or Laurelin might reveil to you a more detailed knowledge about trees ... rhuoommm ... hom ...

Re: The Taproom

I'm guessing the word 'bowl' is feminine in Spanish.  smile  In Italian the sex of the person is implied from context but the word used is based on the gender of the object spoken of (in this case, bowl).  I'm assuming it's the same in Spanish...

I'm familiar with the rumor, but it more fun to have people guess.  wink

No, Miss. Wendy, "bowl" in Spanish but can mean "taza" (female) is more correctly translated as "cuenco" (masculine). It's more a "slip" of my part ..... Sorry ....  I've never known a male tree to distinguish it from a female tree. Would you give some fruit, Master Theobald?

Re: The Taproom

I don't think the Tree is too bothered about the gender of his bowl, so long as it has something in it.

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm ... no, not at all bothered ... though it seems I've caused some trouble because of the use of grammar in different languages ... rhuoommm ... anyway, what's important to me is that there's understanding ... rhuoommm ... to be honest, to cope with the problem of when to use "ser" or "estar" always meant a challenge to me .... rhuoommm ... but, please mind that I'm not a native speaker of all languages used here ... maybe it's better to do it the Swedish way of not using any articles but therefore adding a syllable to the noun ... rhuoommm ... language to me is a bit complicated, as I'm just a tree - though I try to do my very best to cope with all that.
Huuuooommmm ... fruit you mean, Master Erchamion ... I'm just about producing as good as I can ... huommm ? ... but mind this time of year ... it's dark outside and freezy ... huom ... then there's the fact that trees cannot haste anything, as you might know ... rhuoo ... hom  ... hmm.

Re: The Taproom

Such a project was mooted many years ago, but the company gave the researcher very little help or encouragement, and I don't think it ever progressed beyond the planning stage. No, it wasn't me, but it was someone else who occasionally pops into the Pony.

Re: The Taproom

Huuoooooooommmm ... but now I need some help, as I'm not good at counting at all .... huom ... as far as I remember there's still this offer for that Fellowship-thing saying that for purchasing all 12 figures in a year there will be a free miniature .... huommm ... right? .... so, I have that ?th version of a Witch-King and the ?th version of Isildur ... huom .... that's all there is, I think ... rhuoommm ... does that mean that the Fellowship is in its 3rd year now or is there a lack of miniatures? ... rhuoomm ... I don't want to take too much of The Man's time producing miniatures for free, but on the other hand then the Company should alter the conditions about this, meseems ... huommm ...

Re: The Taproom

If you don´t want to have all of ths Isildur miniatures given for the "fellowship 12´´round" you can just drop me a line, Master Tree . . . cool

But mentioned this point is very much to my agreement. We should not charging The Man with too many things, that is right.
So it is really up to the company to give ONE miniature per season/year. Taht means, The Man has to sculp  . . . roll
No miniature will be a little odd for collecting all 12 minis. Maybe they can cancel the point that you HAVE to buy all minis per annum.
As for me. I joyned the fellowship with that offer NOT collecting all minis per year. Does that makes sense?

Re: The Taproom

mmh maybe it could be a good idea to suggest Chris to make the "free" 12-buy MS out of his "fallen Balrog" prototype?

just a thought here... but since the figurine is alread almost done and as it seems some people here at least did like it... it could be both some time spared on Chris workload and a good gift for the GF members....

Still I have not received any news from Chris (except a postcard..) since december.... he is supposed to write me an email (he said so in his last "very short email" but I'm still waiting)

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm ... so you got me right ... rhuom ... what I think is that The Man, of course, has to be payed for sculpting a figure, there's no question ... huom ... that offer was thought of as a special gift for people buying all 12 figures in a year ... hom ... so, if the company cannot afford it, I will be first to understand that ... rhuoommm ... though they then should cancel that special offer, right? ... huoommm ...
See, it was always me, the tree, who in the last years addressed the company in public threads I started on their own homepage about those special MS-gifts and about Christmas figures until back in 2005 ... huoomm ...
since 2006 we do have very nice Christmas-figures again (though the size was reduced to 32mm) .... huoommm ... so with that I felt being succesful ... rhuom ...
as for the MS-gifts I already pointed out somewhere that there's no other company doing something like that ... huooooooooommmm ... on the other hand these figures mean something special for collectors, as they cannot simply be bought .... hoomm ...

Master Turambar, point is that you only get one figure ... huoomm ... so I don't have a spare one, sorry .... huooommmmmm ... of course just buying what you like makes sense, Master Turambar ... hom

Re: The Taproom

Huuoommmrhuooommmm ... Master Gildor, your thoughts about having the 'fallen Balrog' (which I like very much) as such a special gift are very much attractive .... huoommm ... but in the end it's upon The Man and the company to decide about these matters .... huoommm ....
with all this I did not intend to cause any trouble, that's why I just asked for your opinion here, before I start being hasty and open a new thread-thing on the Mithril board .... huoommhom
