Perhaps you should lower 110% the price. That means you owe us 10% of our drinking .....rolltongue

Re: The Taproom

In the English editions of LOTR it's 'the Common Speech' or 'the Commmon Tongue', but I don't know how that translates into your own languages. In fact, the issue of translations into other langugages was one that taxed - i.e. intensely annoyed - the Great Professor.... Personally I remain bemused as to why many foreign-language editions insist on trying to translate - or, even worse, reinvent - the charecters' names and place-names. Why not just leave them as they are? Anyway, as ever I digress.

Re: The Taproom

Master Cameois become Master of Languages great (he speaks minimum 5 of them) .... that means that he's become titled member of our small community. Now he must left his picture on regular "Who is who" topic so all of us could have his Master of Languages face big_smilebig_smilebig_smilelol

one drink... for this new MMP title, please.... + also add please 10% on price (for potential charity activities in some future of course smile )

Re: The Taproom

More than that, in France, Bilbo's book talks about Bilbo baggins, in LotR, he becomes "Bilbon Sacquet", same for "Frodon Sacquet". Just completely stupid !

My wife who's english teacher told me it is even worse with Harry Potter...

Just to conclude on common language, what shall be Master Cameosis then to say he nows every languages?

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm .... Master Barliman, sorry but you seem to misunderstand (as I suspected) hom .... huoomm ... charging another 110% for the brews and liquids (you seem to sell well) means more than to double the standard price ... rhuuoommm ... hom  ... rhuuoomm .... what I wanted to point out simply is that if you keep from adding those extra 10% of ingrediences, such as ... alas ... you know what ... huom .. there's a 100% fine drink to be served ... huoomm ...
in fact that means you use an additional 10% to spoil the 100 by adding, right? ... huoomm ...
so, if you really want to improve your cidery-drink-thing you leave away those 10% ... huoommm ... not adding anything more into them barrels downstairs ... huoommm ... you know ... rrrrhuuoommm ... which simply means you would have to reduce the standard price by 10% .... rhuoommm ... I know this is Entish arithmetics ... huooommmm ...

Re: The Taproom

I don't know about Entish mathematics, Master Tree. I was never any good at any sort of mathematics at school. I failed my maths finals three times, and when I put my name down to take it a fourth time everyone just laughed at me and said I'd be better off serving behind a bar. So it's not only Elves and certain Dunedain who are foresighted.

I think Master Cameosis has the right idea. Let's just fill our mouths with good ale instead of dwelling on my apparently questionable bar prices.

Re: The Taproom

Huuooommmm ... hoommm ... yes ... huom ... it was the same with me, Master Barliman, when I remember the last Enthing, some time ago ... where I tried to pass on my knowledge of mathematics ..... rhuoommm ... I still do remember those eyes of the other trees, turned upwards to the skies .... huoommm ... motionless they were, didn't say anything ... rhuoomm ...
later I found out that these non-gestures and facial expressions were not based on approval or even delight ... huoomm .... see, Master Barliman, that's why I still cannot correctly count my bar taps you  keep for me .... rhuoommm ... the other matter is language ... tar mej fan ... hom

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm ... well, by now it took me three years to have you admit that your bar prices are "apparently questionable", as you put it correctly  ... huoommm ... anyway, I couldn't haste you to confirm this ... huoommm ... no ale, no cider, no whatever-brew-you-like-to-serve-to-anyone-that-pops-in-here-for-the-benefit-to-keep-these-your-premises-still-standing-upright ... huoommm ... some bowl of that clear-clean-non-sparkeling-you know what, please .... huoom..
I have to clean them smelly-rotten-biting- things again .... rhuoomm ... spring's coming, I saw him at the horizon this morning .... rhuooommm ... though he doesn't seem to haste ... hoommm

Yes, the snowdrops are out, and the dafodil shoots are shooting. But alas, the wind is also blowing down bits of your kinfolk all over my garden. Large bits. For three days now. "There's a job of work for me", as a small, woolly-headed fleeting acquaintance once said.
