I think Mithril miniatures are quite worth to build armies. Unfortunately there are not all troop types one need, especially standard bearers and musicians are rare as some ccharacters are only as mounted or foot versions available. So there is a need to convert them. I only use original Mithril parts and sometimes filler and modelling putty to disguise where I have cut a miniature. Conversions could be as complex as you like (see HSF62 for most complex conversions) or simple like bending arms or changing weapons to get some variety.
I will start with the Dunedain and some well known conversion:
Mordor and his allies:
Hithaeglir:
The Free people: Rohan!
Easterlings of Old:
MORE TO COME

All this is simply fascinating, Estel. I cannot believe what I see here and in your other threads.
Sorry, I can't find appropriate words at the moment - except first saying, 'thank you so much for providing all this'.

Brilliant stuff, my friend, absolutely!!!!
Because I told you sooo often how magnificent your work is, and you know my oppinion, I will focus on something special:
the platforms:
Absolutely perfect! So it is a kind of module, I suppose. Each figure has got his own -equal- platform. And the mithril base is hidden perfectly!!!!
PS Wow, these Trolls-conversions are fantastic. A pity, I give that Olog-Hai Troll away . . .

I have done some work to create a Morgul host. I thought ORcs should have some armoury, so I created arm bracers and mail to protect the warrior- armour always needs some Orcis style, so I tried to give them a a used look and created spike-like sharp edges and some grim faces:
