Mae govannen mellon,
Many quite interesting thoughts here. Although I am not quite sure about the bi-monthly vote, I would throw in the idea of having 9 figures instead of 6 or 12 per year as 9 is one of the magical numbers Tolkien used (well all of you know the thing about 9 ringwraith and fellows and so on ).
I would be so pleased with many more M-series as I am also a Hobby-Mithril- exhibition-maker and visitiors always ask from where to get the figures. Many do not like to be GF- members and there are so many good ideas, like Minas Tirith II (or Heroes of Gondor), Orc heroes and so on, that would surely attract many more customers. So reducing the GF- figures per year would also make sense economically for the company.
So why not a voting for the next regular M-series??
Something like that was tried and died out at the GF-forum, like the wish-list because of the lack of interest from members and companys side. Bad thing!
Hope this gives some more inspiration on that term.

I like your idea, Estel. It would just mean a figure every 5 or 6 weeks instead of monthly, but it could make all the difference with the time crunch.
Having noticed the man getting a little behind with deadlines, it had crossed my mind to suggest "sculptor's choice" one of the months. I figured if he had some half done figure laying around he could just finish it up or conversely, he could pick a figure he really wanted to sculpt. However; I never suggested that because it might have caused future snaffus with suggestions. I'd still be curious what Mr. Tubb would sculpt if he were given complete free reign.

a bi-monthly vote could be a good compromise... anyway, we should ask Chris first... and maybe Mithril (Lars&Michael) next?

This is becoming a bit of a chicken and egg question, as we say here in Bree. Is it something that members of the Fellowship should be asked first? Or The Man and/or Mithril?
I suspect the latter would both be happy to cut back the number of releases if it reduced pressure on Chris, but since they have a moral (and arguably legal) obligation to produce 12 Fellowship figures a year they'd need the members' agreement to such a change before it could be introduced. Hence my suggestion that it should be raised as a Fellowship forum or Mithril newsletter issue first, to ensure that most or preferably all the members agree. At the moment there are only about half a dozen of us discussing this on MMP, and such an important issue needs to be aired, debated and agreed by the entire Gold Fellowship.

still, what if we learn that the Man would NOT want to reduce his production requirements? before submitting the vote...
it is only about getting his point of view on the question that suggesting him this possibility would be useful... then we could submit it for a vote from members...
that would be odd of course... but I remind Chris telling me he had to gain his money for his two children at university, and could not "afford to retire any time soon"... maybe he is overwhelmed by work... but that pays his bills... if he has less work.. even in the long range.... that means less money income... and he may have need of it....
Some of the figurines he sold on ebay... maybe he would have liked ot keep for himself...but needed some money... that's a possibility....

That's exactly what I meant by chicken and egg. It's a bit of a conundrum.

Huooommmm ... business has become brisk again, Master Barliman, hasn't it? ... huoommm ...
Sorry that I started the discussion .... huoommm ... but something had to be done ... homm ....

Indeed, and it's a very worthwhile debate to be having. If it makes people thirsty, all the better...

Good ideas...and yes it makes thirsty....
Master Barliman, a scrumpy without furball please...
I think "Mithril" should be asked first regarding the ammount of releases per year. If "Mithril" is ok with the idea of stepping back the GF members could be asked and they could vote yes or no...
it is not really that hard.
By the way I like both chicken and eggs.

Good job you're patient...

By the way, congratulations to the Tree on posting his 500th message on the new improved MMP site! A record to be proud of - though it does tend to suggest that he has way too much spare time on his hands...twigs...leafy things...oh, you know what I mean.

You did indeedy, Master Tree. The M500 figure looks rather good too.
Actually, I've never got round to buying a Mithril Balrog - do people recommend it? I appreciate that the lion/man-shape, wings/no wings issues are very emotive - even divisive - ones, but I'd be inrterested to know what people think of the model. I don't even know how tall it is!
Offline
well the balrog is quite tall indeed, very muscular. in matter of size well it is the tallest figurine released by Mithril...i think it supercedes 100mm but I am not at home.... it is anyway, much taller than 54mm... But the pose of the Balrog will not fit Gandalf M500 behavior. The balrog is sculpted running, looking straigh in front of him and not looking down at all. It could be used for a diorama but definitly not the bridge of Khazad-Dum unless you add some conversions.

I do not have the M300, but the Balrog from (Rawcliffe Pewter). I don't kmow if the size is the same, but this guy stands 108mm tall to the top of his wing and he has a weight of 304 grams. Very nice paperweight indeed!

Ahem Master Barliman, where did you see the M500??? Did I miss something in the last weeks?

Hello all!
My password for Mithril (Gold status fellowship board) is without function (***edited***).
Has anyone the same problem?

Works fine for me - you are trying the new one, aren't you, not the old one that's been in use for the past couple of months?
Offline
(zoetrop had not received the new one, I gave it to him in MP, maybe he did not receive the newsletter)

Oh, thanks, I guess I have to check out the newsletter if I can find it!

Well, these crosses in the newsletter don't work for me....
Would someone please be so nice and post Master Gandalf somewhere here on MMP, so I can see him too?
It would be much appreciated!
