Tolkien Genealogies

I'd link to jump on the occasion to present you one of my "lifetime" projects that is coming slowly into final state of existence...
when I discovered Tolkien, before Mithril, I was a fan of genealogies.... over the years I have made several of them, now the project I made is to gather them ALL together in a single huge genealogy tree...
I have yet to include all the men and elves (but that's the easiest part I assure you, I already have the trees made just not included in this version but... here is the link online)

http://www.faerylands.eu/genealogie2011.htm
(please note that this will require Microsot Internet Explorer to open.... as there are ActiveX controls to accept... Firefox or other browsers won't open it correctly, as it requires the menu on the left to navigate...)

this little "app" is in french, so a little translation is in order maybe for the left panel it says that in order to display the details for a given "name" you need to Ctrl-Click on this name cell and it will display all of it on the left.
You can zoom via the top left window and move the selection window or resize it freely on the top left thumbnails. Indeed, once zoomed in, you can move using horizontal or vertical scrolls in the main window...

I hope you enjoy it!
Please send me your comments... in the end this tree... beginning with ERU Iluvatar and ending up with Eldarion King of Gondor, or Durin VII, or all the children of Samwise Gamgee in a single huge tree...

Re: Tolkien Genealogies

well everything that has a name is included... indeed most of it is from Silm yet...

but with the full tree, no one can say anymore that all characters from tolkien universe have been produced by mithril wink
I should update the tree soon, I'm almost done with the elves

Re: Tolkien Genealogies

I've only time to make a first approach, really great and waste information here, Gildor. Amazing job. When I've a few time (I hope some next week, I'm actually with the hard preparations of one my best friends bachelor's party! )

Best Regards,

Imisel

Re: Tolkien Genealogies

mmhh indeed this tree uses activeX controls which are alas only working on MS Internet Explorer,

here it is in PDF  http://www.faerylands.eu/genealogie2011.pdf

but indeed you'll have to zoom in quite a bit to have it readable wink

beside... this PDF version has been update... and is more up to date than the ActiveX version
