I'm not sure it would work with an iMac anyway (unlike the current promotional campaign. "I'm not a PC...").
I'm also not a PC user, and Master Turambar also use Mac... so I'm sure that it would work also with those Mac OS....

Well, I thought I would post this here. I found this guy on YouTube and he is reading the Lord of the Rings word for word. (or unabridged)
It is very enjoyable too! He does different voices, sound effects, music and I just love it!
Here is the link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1Rt_usiJgo
I am in chapter 4 now. He makes you feel like you are there, so enjoy!

actually on words -- it's a frankfurt specific greeting when you meet someone you know, but it also sounds like an apple product. the bembel is one of the symbols of frankfurt -- and contains the ebbelwoi (apple wine, no less!).

Sometimes I forget that most of you are from other countries. Sorry, but it is still nice to listen to.

Let's hope that MEE/Newline don't notice it's there - I'm sure that they'd object to the use of the movie music and soundtrack effects. Very nicely done, though.

Actually, having listened to a chunk of it now, there are in fact quite a lot of mistakes in the reading, and his pronunciation of some words and names is a little unusual. But it's still highly enjoyable, and the production standard is astonishingly high. Shame the official read edition didn't use sound effects and the like in this way. And even the latter edition has its fair share of misread passages.

Yeah, he does make mistakes. Still, I enjoy it. I also have the original reading on cassette.

I asume you mean the HarperCollins version read by Brian Inglis?
Offline
Yes. I got all three books on cassette for $10.

Lucky man - that was a helluva bargain. I wore out my cassettes years ago and moved on to CDs. They've lasted 11 years of heavy use so far, but I dread the day that I scratch one (it'll happen eventually) and have to fork out for a replacement set...but I couldn't live without them. I listen to the entire set at least a dozen times a year (while I'm painting figures) - painting LOTR figures with the battle of Helm's Deep going on the background just seems right!
Offline
I can get you a set of the cassettes. The place I got it at has more of them. Let me know.

Thanks for the kind offer, Master Marshal, but I'll stick with CDs. Cassettes have such a short lifespan. The set I wore out 11 years ago only lasted about two years before they started to stretch! - and the hassle of rewinding them was always a bind.
I assume the guy on YouTube hasn't got as far as Two Towers yet? At least, I can't find any results when I search for it.
Offline
You are correct. He just put up chapter one of the Two Towers a couple of days ago.

. . .I can´t see her . . . Has anybody got a hand lens for me.
If the company shows their forthcoming releases more smaller, they don´t have to show them at all. You can´t see them . . .
