Huoommmm .... for me it's always too hard to judge about a tiny-metal-thing having to rely only on a very-tiny-picture thing ... huoommm ... well, yes, so far I can say I do like the pose and the garment very much .... rhuommhuom ... yes, Master Barliman, that was the first question coming to my mind ... huom ... I hope there'll be a recognizable difference in height compared to Elven or human beings, as it was pointed out very well in the old vignette .... rhuoommm ... but we'll see .... hoooommmmm

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

I am quite happy with the result actually, with the pose, though the crown may be a bit... high, but I wonder what the size will be indeed, if I look at the base and the regular size of the "little dots" in the base, I'd say this figurine won't be tall, but same size as a human or elf...

as for the necromancer robe, different than a nazgul or istari one, I like it it could have been more "striking" but this is quite correct smile

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

Let's hope you're wrong regarding the size, Master G, but we shall just have to be patient until we see him "in the flesh" (well, metal, but you know what I mean).

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

Huuoommm ... good point that is, Master Gildor, having a look at the base and the bubbles on it ... rhuoommm ... regarding that one as a kind of regular base, the figure is taller than a human or an Elf ... huoommm ... just have a look at the height of the waist ... rhuoomm ... then, of course, that special "crown", which contrasts the downward 'movement' of the cloth hanging  from the head, veiling the face, to lead it up to the 'crown' which extends the height of the figure and that way shows the thoughts of that figure in that moment ... rhuoommm ... he managed to forge the ring, so he will be "king" and superior to all the others ..... huom ... at least that's what I can read from such a very-tiny-two-dimensional-picture-thing ... hom ... and I'm glad that there is not a base more detailed, as it then might distract from the figure .... huommm ...

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

Could one assume that as he is not Annatar in this depiction and not trying to appear 'wholesome' to elves and others, that CT may have made him the same size as Sauron at Gorgoroth with Elendil and GG?

It would be a shame if he were a short-arse in this reincarnation big_smile

Ohterwise we might confuse him as being another Witch-King lol

I hope this thought is far away from the truth . . .
Agreeing to Master Theobald´s observation I am afraid that Master David´s thought is closer than expected . . .

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

about Sauron, Chris answered me smile

Chris Tubb wrote:

I tried many different poses, including some very dynamic ones with much flow and movement. I found that the excessive movement detracted from the essential " gravitas" of the character, so important with the dark Lord. I ended up making him more ghostly and I felt that this somewhat less active pose added to his look of threat and menace. i decided give him a shroud rather than a robe, hence the elongated "face" but thought that this accentuated the look of menace. I hope it works! The height  is 51mm not counting the crown.

well this makes me quite happy!

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

MS435 was a vignette and did cost 69€ for a BIG and detailed base, two full armor 32figurines and heavy geared 50mm Sauron

now iti sa single figurine, with simple shroud and with the new distributor in the US, prices for GF figurines are not supposed to be raised up at all... I think it should be the price of a troll, at most.... so 34 or 39€ not more... I hope so! I intend to buy two! (one of which marked below the base, as I was the winner for it)

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

strangely the price for the old release have never moved they only adapt the price of the new release.... I think this, from the start, is a mistake....

you can't argue the price of metal is higher and don't rise up the price of all your old products to match this metal price increase. that sounds odd wink

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

I've never dared bring up the pricing differential between older Mithrils and new ones, for I fear that they'd increase the prices of their backlist to match the new ones rather than vice cersa! - not something I'd want to see. But you're right, Master G, it's always struck me as an odd prcing policy too. But at least it's in our favour for a change!

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

well yes and no,  increasing the price of their backlist and promote the full range, would allow to reduce dramatically the prices of the new ones too...

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

It's always a remote possibility, of course, but I doubt if any reduction in the price of the new figures would be "dramatic". This is Lars we're talking about, remember.
