- how many different bases are there for those 10 Elronds ?

I would say 9 different bases.

LO16, LR6, M2, MS226, M270

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

[a tall tree enters] ... huomm ...
I hope someone around here can help me ... huom ... well, last night I had a serious discussion with my dear Ent-wife about Elves ... rhuoomm ... I do remember well, that Master Tolkien somewhere stated that Elves do not like or wear gold, as they prefer silver ... huoomm ... so I always avoided to use gold whenever I painted those tiny Mithril-Elves ... different shades of silver were fine for me ... gggrruoom ... then my dear Ent-wife was able to quote from Master Tolkien's writings that some of the Elves also valued gold being used for some jewellery ... rhuoom ... unfortunately I couldn't prove my statement about Elves avoiding gold as it is less valuable than silver ... huom ... I know that I'm right, but cannot prove .... alas, or might even have to repaint a lot of figures ... so what? ... does anybody really know about this? ....

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

I confess, Master Tree, that I have no idea - I've read just about everything JRRT ever wrote, but I don't recall any reference to Elves not wearing gold - however, that proves nothing (memory like a lumber-room, remember), so I may have read it and then just filed it away in some backroom of my brain where it will probably never see the light of day again. If you do remember where you came across this interesting tidbit of information, however, I'd be very interested to know where.

By the way, you look very tall this evening.

huoommm ... thank you very much for considering my rquest seriously, Master Barliman ... huommm ... when I find the source, I'll let you know, of course ... but it must be somewhere in the books, or I wouldn't have taken that note about 15 years ago ... gruommm .... and in the ent, wives always are right, meseems ... huom ... got used to it, somehow .... by now ... err, bye now.

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

I do recall reading something about gold being tainted by Melkor, so that may be a reason elves would avoid it.

I recall a few tidbits in the customs of the Eldar. It is in the HoME10. The short version is as follows (my interpretation in red:

- On their betrothal, the Eldar exchanged silver rings
- On their wedding, the silver rings are removed, melted down and the metal never again used for betrothals. Afterwards, golden rings are exchanged upon marriage and worn on the index finger of the right hand
- All matter of Middle-earth is tainted to some degree by Melkor's disseminated power that he let go into the world (in a similar process as Sauron did with the Rings; and especially the One).  Some materials however, did get more of Melkor's attention and were therefore stronger tainted than others. Here gold is held to be more affected than silver [and thus more liable to corruption or causing corruption to come quicker when dealing or desiring it].

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

Mmmmh, nobody around here FOR DAYS ! What do you think is the problem, Master Barliman?
Maybe it is that you DO NOT offer these typical Christmas dainties and all the fellows have to spent their time elsewhere . . .

Let´s open the "Christmas Bakery" over there. I need some assasins . . . ahem . . .  assistants

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

Christmas? Is that something to do with the midwinter festival? - Yule and all that? Well, I've put some extra-large logs on the fire and arranged for the smiling fat man with a white beard to come round in a week's time. What else should I do?

huommm ... I haven't received any new figures yet ... huomm ... but still there's time before Christmas, so I'm not impatient ... huommm ... by the way I wasn't really silent, Master Turambar, I have just begun reghearsing my yearly Christmas-tree-standing-silently-in-the-corner-thing ... huommm ... I think it's about time you got started, Master Tree. But do try not to drip any tinsel into the customers' beermugs - it chemically reacts with the acid released by the fermenting apples. Mind you, that may make it taste better. Ahem, I mean even better, of course.

Huoomm ..."about time to get started" ? ... errr ... that means soon, right? ... huoommm .... my last dress-rehearsal is planned for Friday evening ... huoommm ... then from Saturday evening on I'll stand in The Pony at the opposite wall to the hearth ... huommm ... I hope that'll be alright for you, Master Barliman ... so, those regulars who are willing to try out your chemical experiment will have to come over to me, as I am not allowed to move, as you once ordered ... huommm...

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

Yuletide delights aside, you might all be interested to know that the The New Zealand Herald has announced that the first official cinematic trailer for The Hobbit is due to be released tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4 p.m. - presumably that's NZ time. It will be put up on Peter Jackson's Facebook website.
