One of my colleagues went back fromv USA yesterday with a very nice and unexpected present for me.
Here is a picture:
This is San Diego Comic Con 2012 Exclusive Invisible Bilbo Baggins From The Hobbit movie. I'm not found of such plastic toys...But this one I have put above my office's desk.

Hey, that's an impressive toy! Wish I had one (I collected virtually all of the plastic figures of this sort released with the 3 LOTR movies - on the whole they're actually rather good, and a helluva lot cheaper than the Weta resin masterpieces!).

Some are already on ebay. As Comic Con ended last sunday, prices are still affordable, but already high. For information, my colleague bought it 25$.
Just search for "Comic Con 2012 Bilbo" using ebay.com (us search is better in this case).

The price for the figure isn't too bad, but the problems are the usual massive US postage charges, the additional 20% VAT tax that I'd have to pay the Customs people in the UK, plus the post office's additional £8 "handling charge" - by which they mean I have to pay them an additional £8 for the privilege of being charged import duty.
All of this combined makes a purchase from the US unaffordable. I'll wait until some Bilbos appear on this side of the pond (as they doubtless will - I've just picked up a Comic Con "Doctor Who Victory of the Dalakes" set on UK eBay, for instance).
But thanks for the thought!

Well spotted again, Master Erchamion! Thanks for the link. The second trailer is also on the horizon, since it's been passed by the censors, so keep your eyes peeled - I think the plan was to put it up with the latest Batman movie, but after the weekend's appalling mass murder at one of the local opening nights I wonder if release of the trailer might be postponed.

I have heard something about projecting it in September.........

I've had time to watch the video now. Terrific stuff - great artistry and exactly the right "feel". I'me beginning to get REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY excited!

Hey Barli, I have a Prolouge Elf Warrior from the toybiz line if you would be interested in it? I have all of the weapons and armor to it still.

That's a very kind thought indeed, Master Marshal, but there's no need - I'm sure we already have him somewhere (though I'm not sure where exactly....the one problem with such models is the amount of room they take up, consequently the greater part of our collection is packed away - which rather takes the point out of having them really!). But many thanks.

Might find some comfort from the comments, and it would appear that the stone giants are in!!

Seems to be talk of the Hobbit becoming a trilogy - take a peek at The One Ring web site

Also production blog 8 which features footage of Dale among other things. you have to get past the ComicCon footage first.

Actually you see a stone giant in the latest Production Video. Another thing I noticed was a ref to Radagast being in both films - or all three, maybe, if the latest rumour - which can be found on other sites as well as The One Ring - is true. Personally I doubt that it is. GW don't have rights to produce figures from the Appendices, which would tend to suggest that Saul Zaentz doesn't hold film rights to them either, which tallies with something I heard years ago - that when JRRT originally sold the rights the Appendices weren't included. But who knows?

There is rumor about a third film . . . Does that make sense?! I must confess, that I like the stories between Hobbit and LOTR very much indeed,
but surely it is NOT " The Hobbit". But surely P.J. will convert this in an excellent way . . .

Someone I know who has links with Peter Jackson says that he too has heard about a third movie, though that could means exactly what it says - that he's heard a rumour. I'm still very dubious regarding the accuracy of such stories.

Looks like it is a green light for film 3! good, bad? Will we lose the 'magic'? http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2012/07 … hird-film/

or I hope that the imagination and the heart will win the race against the "dirty money".....

Which is quite unlikely IMO. PJ tries very hard to get both in line, but in a pinch, I'd bet that he goes for the "economic" solution. Much too much money is at stake here (as in the LotR movies).
Cheers
