Re: THE TAPROOM 2

Probably a pair of small drums or a horn would be favourite — though I'm not especially concerned, since it's not a figure I'd buy anyway (not canonical JRRT, hence outside my area of interest). Ditto the dancer; such figures are available from a wide range of "Fantasy" figure manufacturers already, and I'd rather see a Fellowship dedicated to JRRT producing figures that are from his books.

But that's just my own opinion, as is probably well known by now, and it's clear from the voting that not many people agree with me!

On another matter entirely, I see that GW will be announcing their Hobbit range of figures in four days. It will be interesting to see what they are. The good ones will be from Weta's costume designs; the bad ones will be from the addled brains of GW's visualisers (who tell the designers what to sculpt). The main interest of their first figure releases will be in providing us with a clearer idea of what we can expect to see in the movie, character-wise.

Ahhh- google?! Wow!

Well Master Milo, thank you very much for this enlightening hint!

Master Theobald´s intention was starting a discussion.

That there is the possibility for "having a look" at google already do know my nephew. He is 4years of age.

I do hope, the discussion is not over . . .

Don't be so sarcastic master archer...neutral
Of course discussion is open. who said it was closed ?

My post was just a very small contribution with a link providing pictures.
As Master Ent,  I am not familiar at all with those instruments being used in the south and never travalled that far.

Maybe you did and can help us ? wink

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

Of course I can help!
I just have to wait until I will meet Mistress Leila the next time at the bellydance-group around the corner.
She will give me some important informations then . . .

Alas, my preferred figures haven't garnered sufficient support to reach round two, but at least Blobbo with the Arkentsone is still in the running.

He was the uncle of Fred - remember him? The Hobbit who went with his cousins Mary and Poppins to take the ring to Mount Doom?

Are you really sure that it was "Fred" ?

He was Fred to his friends, such as myself. Everyone else called him Frodo. Even that author chap who wrote about him.

Beard and Douglas C. Kenny of the Harvard Lampoon ... rhuoommmm ... that's all I know about all this ... hommm

Hi Theobald.

Bored of the Rings? A brilliant parody, Master Tree. I read it years ago, but had forgotten about Frito and Spam. I shall have to dig it out and read it again.

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

Hear Ye Hear Ye gentlemen... maybe you are not aware because it has strikken the world of mmorpg and Lotro in particular (along with other games such as guardians of middle earth which is a perfect abomination : see by yourself : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ouc53MS … redirect=1)

well, due to all the abuses made by Warner Bros, who owns New Line, and also the abuses made by Saul Zentz in general regarding the licences they own about derivated products of the "LOTR books"....

TOLKIEN estate as assigned Warner Bros (and new line) AND Middle Earth Enterprise (formerly Tolkien Enterprise) to court and requests a prejudice of $80millions  along with a change in the marketing and strategy plans about LOTR/Hobbit  by Warner Bros and Saul Zentz.

Tolkien Estate vs Tolkien Enterprise!

quite a strike! (but we can be sure Tolkien Enterprise/warner bros don't care at all about that,  they generate billions with the franchise... what is 80Millions wink  )

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

Huoommm ... yes indeed, Master Barliman, I can assure you that to read it again will please you very much a second time ... rhuoommm ... besides it's much shorter than those many-pages-Tolkien-novels as you might remember ... rhuoomm ... hom ...
so you'll get through it in one afternoon and have a various choice of languages being used ... rhuomm ... brilliant, yes, that's the word for it ... huomm ... sometimes I still enjoy the tales of Goodgulf, Arrowroot,Ledolam,Gimlet and all the others mentioned in that book ... rhuoommm ... ah, Sorhed's fearful minions, the Nozdrul always gave me a shiver while reading ...rhuoommm ... a parody, you say, Master Barliman ... well, right, but a very good one, methinks .... hoommm

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

The first GW "Hobbit" releases were revealed over the weekend:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal … tter-en_GB

There's nothing spectacular about them thus far. I'll be more interested when they release some Elves and Men of Laketown etc. At least the Wargs are an improvement on the demented hyenas they designed for the LOTR films!

I assume Radagast carries a hedgehog under his arm as a substitute for a security blanket?

Yes, some are plastic and some resin - and all VERY expensive. None are metal any more.

Huoommm ... how could a bad quality become worse? ... rhuoomm ... talking about the design of those figures ... huommm ... I only hope the characters in the movies do look much more better than those strange creatures ... rhuoommm ... and such a price for all that stuff ? ... that's just ridiculous to me ... huoommm

Re: THE TAPROOM 2

I suspect it'll be ridiculous to a lot of potential customers too. GW have probably priced themselves way outside their traditional teenage hobby market. So who'll buy this stuff?
