Re: The Taproom

Thank you, Master Tree. A very diligent piece of "rumouring"! - worthy of another drip or two of the amber nectar. I assume the piuctures are from The Man himself? - who, alas, didn't send me the "further information" on the new M range that he'd promised by the end of the week. Ho hum... (sorry, that sounds almost Entish, doesn't it?).

Re: The Taproom

Huuoommm ... there's no need to contemplate on fiction or rather questioning rumours ... though some of them might turn out to be facts .... rhuuoommm ... sometimes ... huoomm.
Well, Master Barliman, I have to admit that I supplied you with those pictures from the Company ... rhuoommm ... not from the horse's mouth ... huoomm, so to say ... but a bit hasty I was doing that, wasn't I ? .... nevertheless two drips of that honey-coloured-liquid will do nicely ... rhuoommm ... drips or drams ... that is the question ... huoommmmrhuoommmtom.

Re: The Taproom

Huoommmm ... once again there's nothing much on here at the moment ... rhuooommm .... that gives me time to contemplate for a while ..... huoommrhuoommm ... as some leaves are leaving, well they don't fall .... rhuoommm ... imagine leaves bouncing onto a wooden floor ... huomm ... no, they more often do not haste in their leavetaking ... hom ... yes, all this made me consider the new idea of a Christmas riddle ... rhuoommm ... what do you think about this idea, Master Barliman? .... hom ... funny, isn't it? ... but, alas, I'm afraid there are not enough customers in here who could be interested in such a thing .... rhuoommm ... hom ... let me know, please ...

Re: The Taproom

I think it's a fine idea. Master Tree, so long as it doesn't tax the old brain cells too much. I've got few enough of them as it is, and they're getting very tired (read: "worn out").

It looks very much like we're going to get a Tom Troll to go with Dick, so I expect "someone" (and we all know who I mean, don't we Dave?) will suggest Harry next month (sorry, I'm slipping into Bree dialect - I don't mean Tom, Dick and Harry, I mean Tom, Bert and William).

Re: The Taproom

Huooommmm ... I do understand, Master Barliman, I do. .... Of course the third of those Trollies has to be voted for next time ... rhuoomm ...  though good old Tarannon had a good race, don't you think so? .... huoommmrhuoommm ...
Well, as for that idea of mine about riddles, so it just came ... out of the grey, so to say, ... hom.
As you seem to value this matter I will wisely consider it furtheron ... rhuoommm.
Huoommm ... I've heard of Dick and Harry, but who's Tom? ... rhuoommm

Ah, I think someone else should (re)suggest Bert (Gildor) Barli as there are enough honours to spread spread out amongst the GF, I won with William and have suggested Tom before, so to be fair Gildor suggested Bert and he may be in with a fighting chance to tie up this 'Trilogy of Trolls' once and for all, but with a word of caution not to be tooo hasty as some folk do appear a bit weary of these dim creatures having achieved some success big_smile

Anyhow, I have an idea already planned, lol, it may get disqualified, but we'll see.

Re: The Taproom

Ney, Master ddaines, ... and this it not a riddle, Master Barliman ... unfortunately none.
there was a verb missing in your last entry, Master Barliman ... didn't you mind?
aah, by the by thank you for appreciating us colours ... rhuuoommhom ...... hom ....  but brown was never the colour I would have chosen ... never ever ... rhuoommm ..
so, it's like this .... I'm dismissed ...  hruouhouommmhhhhom ...

Re: The Taproom

You're message still isn't penetrating my scrumpy-addled noggin, Master Tree. Dismissed? Go? What do all these words of departure indicate? Can't see what you mean about a 'missing verb' either. A missing Nob, certainly, but then he's always missing even when he's here.

On the subject of Tom, Dick and Harry, I rather like the version available from Thomarillion, and it's true what Master Daines says about 'troll-exhaustion' - three in so few months would be a little - well...boring. It's true what they say about variety being the spice of life. But if it's what people want, it's what they'll get.

Re: The Taproom

It's too bad two of the trolls couldn't be sculpted wrestling (can't remember which two).  Alas, that will never happen now.

I'll probably try Bard and Thrush again next vote...

Well Wendy if you were to 'innocently' slip that remark into the GF forum so that 'eyes' see it, AND Bert does get suggested (and wins), who knows roll

Re: The Taproom

Huooommm ... some serious matters kept me busy afar from Bree, Master Barliman .... but ..rhuoommm ... in between I found the time contemplating Mithril-matters ... hom ...
I would rather like to cancel my Christmas riddle .... rhuuooommm...hom ... it turned out to be too difficult .... rhuoommm ... the last one's wasn't easy, was it. .... then there's the problem of having a prize for it .... rhuuoommm ... just to top the M16 ... rhuoommm ...
I dunno what to do .... rhuoomm ...
Just give me some of that honey-coloured liquid please ... rhuoommm ... of course I can pay in coiny things ..... rhuoomm ... alas, as I cannot pass them directly would you mind to mark this on one of your tabs ... rhuoommm ... one of the tabs I said ... mustn't necessarily the one that reads Theobald ... .... rhuooommmm .... hom.

Re: The Taproom

Ah, very sneaky. We'll put it on Master Dave's tab - he seems to be a born winner, so he doubtless has a sizeable store of coinies stashed away, what with knowing so many trolls and all.

Re: The Taproom

Huuooommmmm .... you're the wisest of all innkeepers I know, Master Barliman .....huoommm. But poor Master Dave might have spent most of his coiny things for bribing all those trolls ... huoommm ... if that hadn't been the case Tarannon Falastur would have made it ... huoom .... anyway, let's have a toast on good old Master Dave .... hom

Re: The Taproom

But I didn't suggest Tom this time sad , I did the time before, so someone else will have to pick up the tab big_smile (Twrich).

But I'm glad to see we are 2/3rds there now.

Dave.

Re: The Taproom

Rhuuooommmm ... mind the Man in the Dark, Master Ddaines, as he's here too .... huoommm....
what is 2/3rds, by the way? .... huoommm ... alas, I was a bit busy putting a new picture in that Delving place .... huoommm ... I wonder what the three of you think of it ... huom ... though I don't want to confuse neither the barkeep nor the skilled artisan ... hom ... if you understand, what I mean ...

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm .... sorry ... it's me tree again .... rhuoomm ... as I have just reconsidered me thoughts about that Christmas riddle I would like to ask if anybody would be interested in such a thing again .... huooomm ... unfortunately there are not many beings around here for quite some time ... hom ... on the other hand I remember that the riddle in the dark was just between two beings involved ... rhuoommm ...
Then there's the fact that words arrived here last year that it wasn't wise at all not to mind the fact that while I'm talking others are sleeping .... huoommm ... could also have been the other way round ... hom ... must have to do with that different perception of time, methinks .... huoomm ... anyway, as I would like to avoid such comments being offered furtheron I just had too choose a much more difficult riddle this time ... hom ....
please be honest in telling me if I should keep on with that idea or might better delete it ... huoomm ... though it has started already ... rhuoomm
Well, Master Barliman, I do not intend to pester your nice place here with riddlely things ... huoommm ... I will find a place elsewhere to keep record on that matter ... huoomm ... yes, immediately .... in a hurry ... so to say ... hom ...

Re: The Taproom

Huuoommm .... nothing much around here meseems .... huoomm ... I might take the time to undust those doormats again ... huommm ... no, before that I will have to fill that bowl with some liquid ... rhuoomm ... oh, there are those tabs Master Barliman spoke of .... rhuoomm ... strange it is that people forget to take home what they payed coiny things for .... hommmm ...
...... then there's that half-rotten wall over there ... maybe a picture will do covering those stained parts of .... huoommm .... alas, even the plaster is giving in or out ... huoommm ... I will fix it later ... huoommm .... of course you can have a light, Man in the Dark, though this now has turned out to be a non-smoking business inside here ... rhuoommm ... just to let you know ...
