I think another drink is in order, the Knights have now put their mail and helmets on and it was thirsty work, but I wish those damn horses would keep still so that I can finish them

Besides, Master Daines, would you stand still if someone was trying to paint you?

That could be the answer, now why didn't I think of that, hic!

Well I see the latest two MS figures are soon going to be available - 498 Dead Rider of Dunharrow and 499 Arnor Knight fighting Hillman King. Both look pretty good, but is it my imagination, or is the Hillman King a refugee from Braveheart? I assume the Arnor knight's horse will present the usual problem of "Do I cut away the support for the horse's front leg and run the risk of the figure sagging over time, or do I pretend he's jumping over a Hobbit maypole...?"
I really must get round to ordering some of my Fellowship quota before the festive season saps my financial reserves and my will to live.
Congratulations to all those who supported Bert in the latest poll, incidentally (I wasn't one of them!). At last we can move on to something other than trolls!

Huooommmm ... cutting away those supports of the horses has always been a problem ... hom ... I still face the problems with them first Rohirrim riders ... huomm ... trying to do the same with those Swan Knights it again seems to work ... hom ... but in the end (<- d!) only time can tell ... rhuoommm ... I will have a look at that what you call Braveheart-refugee ... hom ...
but not until I have finished that bowl of you-know-what, Master Barliman .... rhuuuuuuuom ...

And I was going to suggest a Troll Standard bearer this time!!!!!!!!
No, I agree we have The Three Trolls now, and we can move on.
And while I'm in the bar I'll be raising my mug to Bombadil aka Roland, who although he never suggested any of the Trolls as individuals (I think), did suggest them more than once as a Threesome, so Bombadil, we got you there in the end

Huoommmm ... cheers, Master Bombadil and may the west door of Moria may not fall upon you ... rhuomm ... huom ... thanks for the toast, Master Ddaines ... but by the by I have to state that trolls do not react to standards .. that's why they have none ... huooommmm

What about the squirrel...?
Offline
Well the man did say at SALUTE that he was going to sculpt that squirrel, just as a one-off if you know what I mean, as a 'gift'! I wonder if he ever did

Just off on a fortnight's jaunt to try a few brews on the other side of the Pond, do I hope everyone will be good while I'm away. Nob will be keeping an out for wall-scrawlers and the like, and Bob's cat will ensure that the scrumpy vat is kept topped up with an adequate supply of rat.
Must dash...

Hom .. I had a closer look at that Hillmen King ... Master Barliman ... huuom ... to me he rather looks more Celtish than Pictish ... more like the Dunlendings The Man sculpted ... rhuoommm ... though there's a new design for the arms on the shield ... rhuoommm hom hom

I am here, Master Ent, though quiet.
Trying to paint lots n lots n lots n lots of Games Workshop figures (and the occassional Mithril) to basically get them out of the way before I go back to painting Mithrils. There's seven more figures to complete and another dozen elf warriors that need stripping and converting. Then its back to Mithril painting.
Last year I decided to force myself to finish one particular orc army composed entirely of GW figures as well as mithrils representing an Elf Wandering company and another 20 or so Elf Warriors, who I'd bought off Ebay which had been painted with some mystery paint that refused to come off. When the paint finally came off, the undercoat didn't exactly do its job, so I abandoned painting that last dozen, dumped them into the stripper and now I shall start again.
But the end is firmly in sight for this odd little diorama/battle scene/place to dump a lot of figures. I will, of course, take photos when its done.

I'm also lurking about, but did wonder the same thing. Mithril have though sent a payment request to me over a week ago which I haven't paid yet for the same figure and Witch King, but that seemed very quick to get painted etc. Well done though for getting it placed it looks nice.
I'm nearing the end of the Dol Amroth quest which has kept me rather busy and quiet (from visiting this fine establishment more often) of late. If nothing else painting these dudes has told me my eyes ain't what they used to be

I SO need new brushes.
The wife got me a pair of amazing Windsor and Newton brushes about two years ago and I used them until they were all used up and nothing, but nothing, I've used since comes close. Worse I can't find that particular type of brushes anymore. Methinks I will have to go on an epic hunt in Montreal on Friday.
Oh yeah, Mount Gunabad has just been done in the MERP area.
Edit: before the battery runs out. I've painted 44 figures in the last month. Most of them GW. And some of them...gah...are plastic! The result was...only ok. I am not a fan of...only ok. The two or three Mithrils came out decently though. But I still need new brushes. Back to Mithrils the day after tommorrow though.

Some nasty Orcs are in here! Throw them out, we don't want them here.
Concerning the knights of Dol Amroth:
With a new homestead (to put all my beloved figures in) and being very busy with a double-full time job I will not manage to even order those knights - so I think i cannot participate in the painting competition if Mithril does not give us more time. I even find it hard to pay 122,- euro for some lead at the moment.
And I am stuck-in in a "great Army of Harad" project, painting lots of horsemen and infantry from the other bad company to fight Gondor in a hopefully very large battle next year (Yes, like Gavin, I even had to paint some plastic -UAAAHHHH- figures).
Maybe I should order some slaves from Umbar, snatching some treasures from Gondor, Rohan, Lake-town (or why not from Khand or Rhun??), so that I can keep on painting for my hobby?
Wishes to all those nice members in here. Have a drink and a toast to Barli and the wandring Elf!!
(and throw those orcs out, they are writing bad things onto your walls)

Nazgul coming up soon. Sorry about the long delay...everything got really busy.
On top of that, in other news entirely, yesterday I looked down from my painting area to see a black cat staring at me. Not one of ours you see. We already have four.
We went out for the day. Came back to find said black cat happily ensconced on the couch, sleeping. It ran out when he saw us.
5am this morning, one of our cats wanted out. Opened a window to let said cat out. In came black cat. Black cat climbed onto the bed, started purring and eventually fell asleep.
Kicked said black cat out this morning. Black cat came back in by some manner when I was in the shower. Black cat is now happily asleep on the bed.
gahhhh

Hah.
Now the epic uphill task of finding some likely suspect to pawn said cat off on.
Found two kittens in the garden in a massive thunderstorm in the summer. So.... I think we are well maxed out.
