Thank you, Master Milo. A very full description. Actually, I think I have that book somewhere, but finding anything in this rambling, disordered establishment isn't easy ("thing wanted always buried", etc!).

It is very quiet in the Pony the last week, it must be the nice weather, finally! At least in Arthedain.

Hasn't been too bad here - actually got some gardening done - but it's rained several times as well, and looks like being another rainy day today. A good excuse to do some painting (minis, not the Pony!).

Saw our first swallows about ten days ago. They nest every year in the watermill where Mrs B is (believe it or not) a miller. Strangely, it's not barley she mills, but — er, some other sort of grain (you can tell I'm an expert, can't you?).
