I have heard scrumpy from the north hillmen is terrific. Could you tell us about it Master Mornedhel?
By the way master Barliman, I need a good breakfast before I move to Grey mountains tomorrow. I will be off for a week, trying to find out about kids pleasure on the snow.

Not terrific enough when you have to eat Haggis for breakfast. Even for a starving Hobbit Master Milo

huoomm ... as far as I remember scrumpy up there isn't that good but they have much better liquids ... huom ... Haggis for breakfast, Master Mornedhel? ... huom ... I don't know when you use to get up ... rhuomhuoom ... isn't it rather that tastily fried black pudding, sausages, eggs, etc. ? ... hoom

Ala no, the full Scottish breakfast is like the English one, and then add haggis, smoked herring and salmon.
Difficult not to accept when served with a smile ...
Somehow like our barkeeper :-/

huomm ... though I would insist on having some slices of black pudding along with the full-Scottish breakfast ... that fish going along with that could be nice ... huoomm ... though them freshly-smoked Arbroath go better with a wee dram and a Heavy ... huom ... but not in the morning ... alas, enjoy .... Master Mornedhel, I envy you ... hoomm ...

Ah, the Arbroath Smokie, twice I have lived and worked in Arbroath, yet never a Smokie passed my lips
, mind you, I have had plenty of kippers from elsewhere

Horrible things - fish that people have been trodden on!

Huoommm ... nothing on here for a while ... rhuôm ... so I get back to the last topic .... huooommm ... Master Barliman, people don't tread on that fish at all unless they like to get their feet burned ... you should know that ... huoomm ... as for a colder way to prepare fish I also do like the Swedish way of original "gravad" salmon very much, if you know what I mean ... huomdom ... maybe it's time that a well-known barkeep in Bree at least learns a slight bit of cookery and how to prepare decent meals apart from those left-overs-finger-food-basket-meals ... hom ... not even I can remember when the last of the Prancing-Pony menues went lost some years ago ... huom ... anyway, let's all around here have a drink on the Pony and its fine barkeep tonight ... huoommm ... of course I have them coiny-things for that with me, Master Barliman, of course ... huom

I do know what you mean by "gravad", Master Tree - but personally I hate salmon anyway. Mrs B loves it, but then her mother is Scottish, so I suppose that's inevitable

ah time for me to pay a "tournée" master innkeeper.... though I'm still a bit ill (troatache etc...) I'd like to offer everybody a good drink... hot or cold (though I'd personnaly prefer hot...)
Why such celebration? well... Lars and Michael (with the help of Chris) decided to send me for free another Isildur 1993 flawless this time, after Chris told them (having sent him the pics I showed you) that this was unacceptable, and the cause of the problem (a poor antique finishing which scrubbed the surface of the metal...)
I also got the details as to how they got those forgotten stock of Isildur, and a guarantee from Chris that there won't and could not be any recast of those Xmas figs.. though secret forgotten unreleased casting stocks may exist. It's simple, he has personnaly gouged out the heads in all the olds moulds back in those years.
well, cheers gentlemen !

My head feels like it has been gouged out too, but I think mine results from having a foul cold. It's the time of year I normally get one.
Hope you feel more robust very soon, Master Elf.

huoom ... so Master Gildor your decision to complain was correct ... huom ... "all's well that Ents well" old Master Willy once said ... hom ... thanks for a cold drink ... cheers ..... rhuôm ...
... er, Master Barliman, why have a private cold when you just have to step outside into a common cold .... huom ... I hope you will be better soon ...

Well, I do see I have missed a lot. Milo's birthday and cold weather many places--here it was as low as -8f--and the news from Gildor, among many other things. Fortunately, we were on vacation at a warm location. But now back to the cold . . . .
Barli, an ale please.

My new Mithril quest started.
I put my eyes on the list of all Belgian Mithril resellers during the 80’s and 90’s (all are closed by now).
Thanks to our government, the commercial register archives are online, so I got the owner names and last address. Otherwise, the white pages are also useful
I hand written many letters asking for lost Mithril.
I posted them this morning. Let’s hope now

And now I need a glass of that honey color liquor I tasted (many time and maybe too much) in the North last week. I cannot rembermer well but many names started with Glenn...

If they began with "Glen" then you were in the wrong coutry and drinking the wrong beverage. Real whiskey is brewed in Mithril-land. not in the Highland North. The Scottish variety is but a pale shadow of true whiskey. (I have a recollection that the Tree doesn't agree with me, but then, he likes water, so how much can you trust his judgement?)

Not sure Master Balrliman, the original root of the word "whiskey", "Uisce" means "water" :-)
So the Tree may be the right
Offline
He still appears to like the wrong water!

So I will move to MIthril-land in spring to verify this point

Huoommm ... wrong water you say, Master Barliman? ... rhûom ... I use to order clear-clean-non-sparkeling-honey-coloured-water if you try to recall ... hooommm ... as I'm not that familiar with the Breeish tongue I'll try next time to order a bowl of clear-clean-non-sparkeling-amber-coloured liquid ... hom ... besides, Master Mornedhel had the right of it ... huom

It's all a matter of personal taste, of course - literally.

Huom ... yes, indeed, Master Barliman, I never doubted that ... huom ... but what to discuss here when there's nothing much going on concerning that Company ... rhûom ... I expected the announcement of new releases in January already ... hom ... yes, of course, I should have known better ... hom

A quiet week-end in your establishment Master Barliman. Is everybody enjoying the sun all day and next a hot drink beside the fireplace?
