Been playing a bit of Dungeons and Dragons over the last few years.
Got a bunch of Reaper figures to play D+D with. I also got some D+D prepaints. Then Reaper brought out their Bones range, so I got some of those. I ended up storing the old Reapers away somewhere for...oh some future reason which hasn't occured to me yet.
So, I have this collection of what I have designated "D+D figures" - The PA fantasy range, along with various cast figures, Reaper bones, Wizards of the Coast miniatures, Pathfinder miniatures and so on.
Only...what gets all the use? The various plastic "bouncy" figures such as Reaper bones et al. The old Prince August figures are lovely, but they don't really have that indestructable, disposable oh-hell-it-got-tossed-across-the-room toughness of the Bones and the various prepaints. And I wonder...you think PA should actually just license their sculpts to someone who would recast the figures in something more modern?
I would totally buy the old PA range, redone in some other substance. Keep the old figures as collectors items; have the new ones as something to play with in D+D or Pathfinder.
But again, my general sense of weirdness that Prince August is not at the forefront of the contemporary miniature market goes on.

PA business being also around selling tools for home casting, I doubt they would licence their sculpt to someone using more modern techniques. But I maybe wrong. It's worth to ask the company if such thing is possible.
By the way, Phaeton is something near to PA CH recasts, but not plastic, which may explain this range had no success with gamers..

I prefer metal where I can get them, and the metal Reapers are several degrees above their Bone variant in casting quality. I admit, however, that letting one drop will do more harm to the metal, but I try to avoid that in either case.
Whenever I intend to paint a mini, I rather get myself the metal version.
For hosts and hordes plastic is the new way, and you can create tons of variants with most modern kits. For characters, the CH available range is limited. I try to get my hands on the variants when I can, though I do not go so far to hunt them down like I did with some Mithrils.
As we are here, I just compiled the list. The CH part is in the Database, but the Fantasy army line is not. Perhaps someone can help me to fill the gaps:

Well Master Axel, I made some research few years ago and found almost everything known as PA cast miniatures.
So I am sure I can help.
I updated most of PA range here: http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lost … nce_August
I also managed to put my hands on every existing PA catalog + a 1985 price list which explains the RM mention. I will add details about it later.
Then, I have many spare PA miniatures. If needed just ask me for my trade list is alive (some + and many - every week).

Ah, concerning to this topic I can privide this picture . . . Seems to be: fantasy armies 620-Mailed High Elves.
(some people out there could recognize this figure . . . )

Those "mailed high elves" look very much like the designs of the Elves of Gondolin from the Tengwar magazine.
And I too was awaiting the 32mm Orcs mentioned (and was there some discussion of Dwarves and heroes too?)
