Ah, a mere stripling! Are you old enough to drink scrumpy, young sprog?

A very big cheers to Master ddaines!
Master Barliman I always thought you treat the young ones with scrumpy to make them tougher....

True. Those that can survive an initiiation to the art of scrumpy drinking can survive anything, up to and including a term in office by Trump.

You are right there!

I need another scrumpy to survive!

Me too. I shouldn't have mentioned that dread name....

Barely I guess
But then, many moons ago I used to frequent the Minerva public house on Plymouth Barbican where they served a 'mean' brew

Hey! What's all the ruckus going on around here? How can a hobbit get a good nap after his second breakfast (or was it my third?).

For those who know that I live near Londinistan - all okay

Until I reead your post, Master Dave, I hadn't realised there had been yet more pointless carnage. Now that I've seen the news, what can I say? All we can do is persevere in the face of such brutal, mindless outrages. And that's the point really - terrorism, by contrast, has no poont at all.

They've picked the wrong people if they think they'll win

I'm glad to hear you are safe.
I hear that phrase "Londistan" from time to time and wonder are there truly areas in London that citizens and police won't go into? Are those areas really turning into their own little... um, fiefdoms for lack of a better word? Here in America there are sections of Detroit, Washington D.C., Chicago and Los Angles that one would be insane to enter as a regular citizen but the police still patrol and respond to calls for help.
All I can say is that my heart (and prayers) go out to you and the people of Britain. Regardless of any current politics we in the U.S. will always feel a special bond with our "mother country."

Thank you . I don't think there are specific 'no-go' areas as such, no different I guess from other areas in other cities, certainly for the police, but with the numbers of police remaining you rarely see them on 'visible' patrol anymore. As to the term 'Londinistan', perhaps best not go there on a hobby forum .

Certainly not enough of the old Plods are seen on the streets any more. I remember when I was a child you'd hear them checking all the doors down the High Street by hand, every night (I lived above a shop). Not now, alas.
Offline
Hmm, when I was a kid nobody checked the doors where I grew up, because they where not locked!
Am I really that old???
Maybe the times are changing that fast....

Wherever you lived, the people were unusually trusting. Did you grow up amongst Elves?
