I bought a pile of lead miniatures and this one stood out

https://i.imgur.com/YCYidX9.jpg

I bought a huge pile of lead miniatures last week. After a little investigation I found out they were in a building being remodeled in Calvert TX.  One container was half filled with water along with a few pieces of iron, so many of those figures are rust stained.  After doing some more investigation I believe the lot was originally owned by Bert Dunken who was the founder of the Dunken Co.

Near the top of one bucket was this miniature, it stood out from the rest so I pulled it out to take a more in depth look.  Overall it seems to be in good shape, especially considering the way it had been stored all of these years.

The bottom is marked ARAGORN DEC 88 C_T  it looks like there may be something after the CT but it's where the bottom lead was clipped.  There is a casting flaw right in the crotch area and a tiny bubble on the right thigh.

Re: I bought a pile of lead miniatures and this one stood out

Hello there,

well could you confirm that the figurine is 54mm tall?  if so this is the "Christmas 88" Aragorn gift figure, which is one of the rarest figurines.

It would be interesting to see what other figurines were there along this one maybe there are other raritites as well ?

I'm quite sure that it is an '88 Christmas figure ny Chris Tubb. It must be the 54mm size, because no other Aragorn figure was sculpted in 1988. Very interesting how you came to find the figure, Master TChaney.

Re: I bought a pile of lead miniatures and this one stood out

He is 8 cm tall from base to the tip of his sword point.  ...I just learned how to measure a figurine and it is 55mm from the soles of the feet to his eyes.

The lot was split almost 50/50 with fantasy and army figures.   There are quite a few Elan Merch, even more Heritage miniatures, but the vast majority of it is Prince August.  There are a handful of what look like custom castings as well, most likely done by Mr Dunken.

I think this is the only Mithril figure in the entire lot.

I will eventually sell everything once I get it all sorted.
