and of course the figures ! ( about 45 ... )
All in protected boxes , often glued and all unprimed, in excellent condition. 6 in blisters.
I think the owner was a collector and also a painter, but the seller didn't have a lot of informations about the figures.

and also a strange dragon, not Mithril I guess...

I will keep on some of the figures for painting and will sell the others.

Great lot master Sam. Seller is indeed a collector with great care. I never saw such indiviual packaging.

About 3rd picture with "Dragon" articles, can you tell me more about it?

Master Milo, yes, it's an excellent lot !
I don't know if the first owner was only a collector ( the collection is not complete and started after M100)
But they are all prepared, prime colour stripped, and almost all glued, ready to paint (or exposed ?)

I've nothing more to say about the dragon ! length is about 10 cm.
The strangest is that it seems to be primed like the Mithril figures.
I will take a picture with a figure for the scale.

Very good pick Master Sam Wise.

I think Master Milo was talking about articles from the Dragon magazine and not about the dragon figurine.

oups !hmm

For the Dragon Magazine :
-Juillet-Aout 93 : "A la Pointe du Cutter" : conversion of a dragon "RAFM" , author = Philippe Plual
-Janvier-Février 95 : "A la Pointe du Pinceau" : Gandalf vs Balrog in the Moria (creation of a diorama ) , Author =Christophe Patou

If you're interested, let me know ! I can scan the pages but I can send also the original. wink

Waouh ! Philippe Plual ! Do you remerber his name ? He is one of the two Nantes painters I told you about in a previous post ! Humbrol painter but not only. Today he does a lot of airplane models and no longer lives in Nantes.
It is him, with Thierry Abgrall, who is at the origin of the game of Nantes figurines Armageddon. He has to draw the figurines as you can see below. As a bonus, an Armageddon painter figurine by Maître Jacques.

Re: Once upon a time Mithril Maniac / Myth'Image

Click to close
Click to close

Hi every body,
I have mentioned to you over the past few months, the names of figurine painters who had had a considerable influence on my passion. From Jacques – Philippe Leroux, unavoidable and whose talent as a painter of Mithril figurines has never been second to none, to Philippe Plual, whose name came back a short time ago, thanks to Master Sam Wise.
As you know, I am fortunate to live in the city of Nantes, which still remains as a real breeding ground for painters, sculptors, creators and illustrators of all kinds, as gifted as they are incomparable. I was thus able to enjoy a real chance to be able to rub shoulders with all these beautiful people and thus give other perspectives to my fantastic universe.
During our various exhibitions of Mithril figurines, in Nantes and its surroundings, we were very often with another painter of figurines. These were not our dear Mithril but Games Workshop figurines or rather Citadel, still so named at that time. He did not paint in oil but in acrylic. That did not prevent him from being rewarded many times with "Golden Daemon" during Games Day and ultimate reward in this universe "Warhammer", to obtain a "Sword", designating the best painter of the year. So today I have to repair an injustice of which I am the author, because I could and should have cited Bruno Grelier as one of the greatest painters of figurines from Nantes and France. Bruno left us a few years before Jacques, carried away by the same illness.
Bruno accompanied me during the "Brittany Open of figurines". We led initiation workshops in painting, aimed at young and old. Bruno was imaginative and patient enough to carry out such workshops. He had the talent and a real pedagogy to create a lasting spark in the minds of beginners. He was the model of many Nantes painters who today are recognized worldwide for their excellence in painting. But I will come back to you later to put them too, on the front of this stage. They deserve it !
I hope you don't mind being reminiscent of Games Workshop figurine painters in this Mithril figurine temple, but they are inseparable from what was "Myth’Image and its Apostles".
Yours and be well.

Re: Once upon a time Mithril Maniac / Myth'Image

I can already hear you railing against this new obituary. Who's Next ?
Rest assured, Bruno was the last deceased painter whose memory I wanted to evoke. Bruno was mischievous, a bit like me. Did you find what famous character Bruno was inspired to make the figurine on display?

Master Fabrice, some people pass ... that's sad of course but that's real life.
I can add also someone who was not a painter, but an actor that we all remember, Ian Holms, the famous Bilbo of the LoTR movies...

For the character of Bruno's figure, I don't know ! ( except that it's a pirate !)

And for your story, it's very interesting to learn so much about the Nantes Painters !

Thanks for sharing with us your memories.

Re: Once upon a time Mithril Maniac / Myth'Image

Click to close

Jacques avait commencé à peindre la M 186, Vifsorbier. Je vous adresse une photo.
A très bientôt !
