Re: The Taproom

Hiya Gildor

That /is/ the "canonical" merp background. Just with bits excised. All the secondary MERP material exists in a weird legal limbo - things like Pete Fenlon's greater Middle Earth map, the names and places. No one is entirely sure who owns them - it might be TE, it might be the original ICE freelancers, it might be modern ICE. The MERP fan modules community, MERP.com and so on do a lot worse. Other Minds magazine does worse. The original ICE nazgul writeups have all appeared in the "Hall of Fire" webzine, word for word transcribed from Lords of Middle Earth Volume 2.

So, don't worry about it. If anyone says anything, just delete the thread with them on.

Re: The Taproom

Gavin, delete the thread? Heaven forbid! These details are great, and an easy reference when I am online anyway and don't want to go down to my "dungeon" to look for the references while RPGing. And I do encourage any Mithril fan who still Role Plays to go the the Other Minds website http://othermindsmagazine.com/ (a continuation of Chris Seeman's Other Hands),  as they have many good resources and contacts. Of course, www.merp.com is excellent too.

Er, since the thread already exists, why has it spilled over into the taproom as well? There's barely enough room in here as it is...!

Re: The Taproom

Huuuooommmmm .... as far as I remember it was mentioned that in case of a draw Mithril will decide ... rhuoommm ... I hope that doesn't mean to put the final decision on all of the staff ... huoommm ... so it will be Master Tubb and Master O'Brian to decide ... huomrhuom .... hom ...
so if Master O'Brian is a wise man, and I think he is indeed, he will pass on the decision to The Man .... rhuoommm ... to me that makes a lot of sense, as it's The Man who also is in charge to decide which suggestions made in the GF could be realized .... huoommm ... so far I'm right, methinks .... hom
rhuuuuuom ... besides that also means that in case The Man has to decide it means that he will put a lot of his creative energy into the sculpting of what he chose ... rhuooommm ... I think ...

Huoommmmm ... just regard what I said as being a rumour becoming a fact ... huoomm ... hom ... don't you remember that we had to move in the old 'Pony' from room to room ... homm ...  once a while ... alas ... refurbishing and recleaning, even painting ... huoomm occasionally cleaning some wargskins rugs ... rhuoomm ...  you know ... huom ... you're part of that, Master Barliman ... so you will be ... rhuooommmmhuooomm ...
in spite of that serious matters may ... huom ... may I have a bowl of that very-clear-clean-honey-coloured-watery-liquid, please ...? ... alas, them coiny things ... rhuoomm ... none of them I own at the moment but I can pay in rumours ... rhuuooomm, if you don't mind .... huom

Let's hear a worthwhile rumour first, then I may consider topping up your 'water' bowl.

Re: The Taproom

Yes, confusing isn't it? But if that was your idea of a rumour worth a drink, you've got another think coming.

By the way, forget (for now) what I said a couple of days back about Rowan Atkinson being cast to play Bilbo in 'The Hobbit'. I've been told by someone else that it was an April Fool's Day jape. Shame really - I rather like the idea of seeing him in the role.

You people do love riddles, don't you? But you never provide sufficient information for a slow-witted barkeep to have any idea what you're talking about.

Re: The Taproom

Huuooommm ... this is not about riddles, Master Barliman, as you might remember that riddles have always been a bit more complex than a simple rumour ... rhuoommm ...
well, then ... huoomm ... concerning the rumours about the next M-releases (sic pl.) you have not been too talkative so far ... rhhuoommm ... not was I ... you just pointed out that there have been some certain information provided by someone ... rhuuooommm ... so that's what rumours are about .... rhuoomm ...
Huuooommmm ... but as Master Gildor seems to be informed about that matter ... rhuoomm ... and he 's an honorable man ... we might the rumour being regarded as a fact ... huoomm ...  ... rhuooommm ... that's what I know about this one  ... rhuoommmhuooommm

Re: The Taproom

Master Barli, may I offer a round of drinks. Master Estel is a lucky guy because his black Numenorean wins. CONGRATS !
Can´t wait to see the result of CT´s interpretation.

Re: The Taproom

These are on the house, since I'm personally happy that the Numenorean has  won.

However, I'm not sure that the offhand way that Master Michael has treated the voting results is entirely fair. After all, when the voting deadline actually passed the result was a draw. The first additional (late!) vote gave the Numeorean the advantage, and the two further (very late!!) votes extended his lead. But the true result was definitely a draw, and The Man (or whoever) should have made the final decision regarding the victor, as per the Fellowship 'rules'.

I can't remember who it was who suggested Sam, but they certainly have grounds for being miffed by the result, don't you think?

Re: The Taproom

Huooommmm ... right you are again, Master Barliman ... huoommm ... it was a draw and that's a fact .... Master O'Brian's explanation about this in the last newsletter didn't convince me very much ... rhuoommm ... anyway ... I'll not complain about the outcome .... huoommm ... ah, could I have this bowl being topped up, please .... huoommm ....
