also other news... though I don't know if I am to tell you about it but I did not receive any non-disclosure requests...

The Helm's Deep "theme" is supposed to be made of 5 sets at all (that's not definitive though it may be less)
part 1 is Gamling's rally
part 2 is supposed to be "death to the strawheads" and it is already sculpted by Chris, he is now working on part 3
part 3 is supposed to be a lot of orcs... including those with explosives...
part 4 & 5 , we don't know yet

the Destroyer of Dwarves (PM2) should have been finished by Easter, but I received no news about it recently, but well it should appear soon.

What great news!! Lots of Helms Deep figures, very nice. It seems, that they are made to fill-in the gaps of the irregular Helms-Deep-series and to create a whole great battle scene. That's fantastic to give my scratch-built Helms Deep fortress lots of Mithril figures for diorama purposes. I like most the "strawheads"-thing- a chance to get some quite new Dunnish warriors for my ever growing Isengart army.
Maybe we sometimes can also have some "siege of Minas Tirith" sets in future.
Thanks Gildor for the news, and we promise you all spies, telling the Great Enemy, that you have told us the news, will be found and punished ;-).

Cheers again.

Do the Bree-people also celebrate the first of May??

Re: The Taproom

In fact, valued Master Tree, your eyes did´t fool you. At the point of time I finished that diorama, the original furniture collection
wasn´t  part of my properties. My first and only try of using greenstuff . . .
The accessories exist in the meantime, but it seems that I am a little bit too lazy to exchange them.
As I not give preference on painting lute players and girls ( the M120 exist also . . . ) .
Unfortunately that diorama develops an other status through the years, it is a kind of " too innocent" for me at present hmm
Can´t explain it in a better way, sorry. Nice that you like it. All of you.  smile

Re: The Taproom

I wonder where this might come from except maybe that some members would like other kinds of suggestions (vignettes mounted etc) I know that's not possible at the moment but that may cause the lack of voting... from people who do not care about the result because they do not feel concerned... (I for once, vote every every month but it's been months I have suggested anything, that's my choice indeed...)

Maybe we should ask Michael to add a voting option in addition to all suggestions : "no opinion" or "blank vote"
this way people COULD vote even if they are not happy with the  presented suggestion (wether because they don't like any of them, OR to reflect , somehow, that they would want other kinds of figurine?  ) well, anyway, a blank vote should always be possible... because voting blank... and not voting.... is really two different things....

Re: The Taproom

If people don't like the suggestions, why don't they suggest something of their own? I don't think a "blank vote" would attrackt more members to vote.

Re: The Taproom

well sometimes people lack ideas .... or they are not offered the possibility to submit their suggestion due to the restrictions... they nevertheless would vote happily?
but that's only an opinion indeed... actually I do vote after all, but in the past months, I have to admit, I have sometimes voted for suggestions more with the goal of not letting another suggestion I did not like, win...  but this only applies to the second round votes indeed...

Re: The Taproom

While I am not desperately enthused by a half-troll standard bearer, such a thing would be very cool in an Angmar army or Arthedain/Angmar diorama or a MERP game. I'm sure it will be a beautiful model, too. Throw in the Troll drummer, this fellow and the half-troll captain from the early M-series and you have a very distinct command set for Angmar. (alternately, one could use the Dagohir model as a half-troll captain, as he is, sort of, a half troll captain)

I'll buy another Troll drummer to go with him. The results should be nice.

Re: The Taproom

they look wonderful, a troll bent this way around a campfire , excellent pose!! really

and the thrush on Bard's shoulder , that's grand... but I hope the thrush will be a separate part because it will be a real pain to paint Bard's hair if the thrush is whole with the figurine!

about what Tom is holding, I'd say a horse or poney rear leg...

I think it is definately a pony (hopefully not the Prancing Pony) or the sheep in those parts are huge!

The final Troll looks superb as does Bard. Dead rider, Ingold and Brand arrived today and didn't dissapoint, just two more figures to get to keep up to speed with the GF releases!

Re: The Taproom

I think it is clear that many of the people still active in the FG vote. The number has been consistant for many months. Over the years it would be reasonable to expect that some would join the club, and then not continue, for a variety of reasons. But they don't "cancel" their membership, they just drop out. So the number of members is probably exaggerated, at least by a hundred, maybe more. I think that the last MS figure to sell out was Halbarad, some three years ago or so. Recently the number of figures released monthly has been reduced to 150. Mithril determines what they think will sell over several years, not just in the few weeks after a release.

Of course, we have recently added some great new members too.

So, this makes it all the more important that those of us who are active members suggest, vote on, and purchase the Mithril MS figures, if we want to continue to see Chris create our ideas.

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm .... I'm afraid you're right, Man in the Dark with your explanation about the low number of people actively taking part in those votings ... huom ... I have also sadly witnessed a certain decline within the GF .... rhuoommmm ... though I share your point of view that some 'great new members' have recently added themselves to this ... huoomm ...
As for me I can say that I did my best ... rhuoomm .... I always took part in the votings and even started to suggest new ideas of my own, after Master Barliman told me to do so ... huoom
What else can I do? .... hooomrhuom ... maybe another MX to keep the fire burning? wink ... huom
I dunno ...

Re: The Taproom

What is this newsletter of which you speak?  I have pulled up the Newsletter on the Mithril website and it certainly doesn't show these new models.  Or perhaps too much ale is clouding the mind..

Are you referring to a Gold Fellowship newsletter?

Re: The Taproom

the newsletter on the website has not been updated for quite some months...
the "real" newsletters are those we receive in email from Michael and yes this is a Fellowship newsletter.

@Theobald : I don't think a new MX could be achieved at the time being master ent... it would not be wise.... the workload of master Tubb seems already quite overflowing and adding a MX would only give him more and more work and delay even more the possibilities for the gold fellowship to be able -once again- to produce other things than "single unmounted" figurines...The backlog for GF figurines is currently at 6 figurines (only four, if we assume that Bert and Bard are finished) but that's still too much if we consider there is a full helm's deep regular range to be produced along with... certainly... other Prince August products not Mithril related.

Re: The Taproom

Well, in other news, I just did something highly random:

I purchased the badly painted, damage MC Strider figure that's been lurking around ebay for months and months and months. I figure it was worth spending 5 euro not to keep seeing the damn thing.
