Re: The Taproom

Sorry, master Gildor,

you are an Elf and they can be hasty sometimes, me thinks. I am going to be more Entish as I am growing older and older- maybe some gift from Eru. Anyway I will vote now, as I got the information  now.  If the primer is so bad and rita.de told me scary things about that primer, I ask myself, why the hell the company sold any figures primed if the primer is of such a bad qualitiy.

Another primer is being woken up by a brass band early in the morning..... primed for the day lol

Ah, an Entish rock band! I'm surprised our resident Tree has never mentioned them.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this?

M516 Hooded Half-Orc with spear.

In the first pic he is holding a different shield to the one he has in the Mithril banner. On the pic from the Mithril website he is again holding  the shield with the straight ends.
What shield did you guys actually get?

Re: The Taproom

Brilliant, Mr. Watson, brilliant.
I can tell you Holger, that my M516 has got the typical Isengart-shield, that one with the White-Hand-Icon.
I can remember that it was very interesting to me, that this Half-Orc has got some dunnish-icon-shield.
(One of the reasons I have ordered this figure . . . )
Through the confusions of price increases and waiting loops of primer stuffs and TE-decisions I forget this point completely and
did not noticed the "normal" shield . . .
Again, Mr. Watson: brilliant observated !

Re: The Taproom

All that's happened is that whoever stuck the shields on for the Mithril promo picture gave M516 the shield that actually belongs to M513. All of the figures have the usual hexagonal shield in all the pictures I've ever seen, including the very earliest ones I got from The Man  - admittedly, the way the light catches the shield of M516 does make it look different, but if you look carefully you can see that it isn't.

M513's shield, however, does have a couple of extrra bits of Dunlending-looking decoration that we've not seen before, so I shall use these shields for the officers.

Re: The Taproom

Yes, Master Barli, but the shield of 513 is a round one . . .  roll
The promo pic shows a hexagonal shield with the White Hand and with two extra applications, on bottom and on top !
This is what the Master Caster and myself had observated . . .

Is anybody able to put a pic of 513´s round shield in here. It would interesting to see it in detail.

Re: The Taproom

Sorry, I mistyped '513' when I meant 515. The shield of 515 is the one with the extra decor at top and bottom, and as I said, it has been wrongly glued on 516 in the promo picture. Didn't you notice when your figures arrived that the Half-orc axeman is the one with a decorated shield?

513, of course, is a Rohirrim, so has a round shield as usual.

Re: The Taproom

Ahh, ok, I see. You are right, Master Barli about the shield. Unfortunately this one, the M515, was a victim about the price increase . . . roll
So, is anybody able to put a pic of 515´s shield in here. It would interesting to see it in detail.
But that round shield of course also . . .

Re: The Taproom

Huooommmm ... Master Barliman is absolutely right, though he did confuse .... huoommm ... that shield that differs from the others and of which you're talking about is part of the M515 ( the one with the axe) ... rhuoomm ... of course he's meant to be an officer as you can see having a look at the helmet ... the application at the front of the helmet reveals him as being a Half-orc officer ... huoomm ... you might even compare the design of the helmet of the Half-orc- standard bearer .... the same design of a helmet was used with the lost Mw347 Angrenost guard captain (on foot) .... back to the shield again: the Dunlending chieftain (LT12) also holds a shield with more applications above and below the 'white hand' ... huoomm ... so the M515 definitely is an officer, but one of a minor rank to a chieftain ... rhuoommm ... that's all I can guess ... huoom

What Rohan(ish) figures are they, then? Are we talking about the same Gamezone? - they only seem to do heavily armoured Gothic jobs as far as cavalry are concerned. Or have I missed something?

I'll check on the website (artemis Black) and let you know, Barli - the figures in question are not heavily armoured, but I can't think what they are called. roll

Re: The Taproom

I've already looked on the actual Gamezone site, as well as Artemis Black and DR Gaming - I think you've got the GmZ range mixed up with someone else's products, Master Dave. If I'm wrong I'll eat your hat (well, I'm not going to waste one of my own).

Artemis Black are pretty useless as a supplier, by the way, or so it seems to me. I've sent several emails to their two addresses over the past few weeks and not had a reply to a single one of them, so I've given up with them and now buy my GmZ figures from DR Gaming (Gamezone's postage from the Continent is way too high!).

Thank you very much for the exlpanation. Much appreciated. That makes things clearer now... However, this pondering gave me a nice idea for a new shield design....smile

"soon" how long is it, Master Tree? You must remember that the time doesn´t pass equally for the Ents that for the others. wink I also have to make a small investment in the next few days (but not lead, but in other hobbies) ...big_smile

Re: The Taproom

I have to save my coiny things because Bard will be released soon.  The man sent me some pics.  I imagine he wouldn't mind them being posted here (since Mithril has some posted already), but I'll ask first just in case.

Sto imparando l'italiano (I'm learning Italian)...I'm also saving my coiny things in the hope that I will be able to take short trip to Italy in Oct/Nov...if all goes well (these are some interesting economic times).  Of course it has to do with painting and sculpting.  big_smile

Now that I have had a chance to check, they are in the Feudal Knights range and are the Squire figures 11 54 - 58. I suppose on reflection looking at them they do not have mail hauberks, but I likened them on the basis that they could be given scratch-built chain, or be Rohirrim not fully geared up, but on the casual prowl for orcs wink. Although I have got no further that was my intention to do them like this at least.
