There are great projects to wait for, Gavin . . .

Go look in the gallery section for some of the initial pictures. Hopefully I'll get a chance to take more photos today.
Beyond that...
I see there's a Helm's Deep recall in effect, and anyone who doesn't like the "quality" (by which I take to mean the undercoating) can return the figures.
Anyone going to take them up on it?
Gavin

A bit late - I've already stripped the undercoat off mine. It's amazing how much more detail there is than was first apparent! Still, a good PR decision on Mithril's part - though I wish they'd recall the prices too...

You speak out my thoughts, Master Barliman. A bit late, you say it right. In this particular case I am not sure what to think. I feel a little bit teased . . .
I also stripped the primer off mine, and that was hell. I told it before.
But- let us believe in the good will of that company. It is a gentle signal, isn“t it . . .
PS: but somebody should inform master Michael, that the fellowship miniatures“primer is not in better condition . . .

A good point, but the only GF figures I've bought lately are slightly older ones, on which the undercoat was still of the old variety. I haven't bought any of the latest three or four GFs yet - are they covered in the same congealed custard as was used on the Helm's Deep figures?

Well, as far as I am concerned I can tell that the three Trolls have got a similar thick paste covered on.

Master Rita.de, do you have the third troll now? I ask as I have a split order pending (awaiting the release of Bard and the Troll) which Joan in despatch may have forgotten about.

Sorry David, for being that late. The German nights have a little bit of this subtropical-zones in the moment.
Yes, I have received Bert. The third Troll. And the shipment was faster than ever in my case . . .
It seems that you will be right concerning your matters . . .

Today's Mithril newsletter says that Axel's suggestion won the June GF poll... Odd, I thought, didn't I suggest him? But then, checking back, I find that Axel had indeed suggested him before I did (in that particular month!), and I just wasn't paying attention!
I'm so confused my head's in a spin. I think I need one of my famous drinks.
However, I'll be interested to see what form the GF Bombur will now take, since Master Axel wasn't specific how he should look, whereas I wanted him in armour as per the Battle of Five Armies - which, I earnestly hope, is still the persona he'll assume...

did you see the offer on the newsletter???
they offer to replace the gamling's rally figurines if we send them back to them, and they will send new ones, primed with their new dilution... in august.
As for myself it's a bit late, but that's a generous offer!
btw I submitted a very exclusive Idea for this month... I hope it will gain some support as I really think it could be a masterpiece : Gandalf mounted on Gwaihir... It's an opportunity to seize as such figurine perfectly fits the "mounted figurine month" rule....

Hmm - in fact the Helm's Deep 'recall' was announced in a special Mithril email (to GF members only?) several days ago - didn't you get one, Master Gildor? - and has already been commented on in the Taproom (see above). Mind you, I wouldnt call it a 'generous' offer so much as 'doing the right thing', but it's still far better than not doing anything at all.

ah no, did not get the GF email
well it seems I am a bit .... "elsewhere" lately
sorry then

. . .peutetre a la Tour De France!

Offline
oh well no... the "tour de France" was in my town yesterday, just where I work, and live... that was awful...
Anyway...
I'm rather busy lately with the "end of year" procedures and huge amount of work (in universities...) and with the baby due in two or three weeks now... but that's off topic

Worry over I got the payment request sent for the second part of the order, it may be that the primer issue was being sorted. so here I am poorer in the pocket, but waiting in anticipation
There seems to be some out of sequence sending of info from the company of late, perhaps they are in aspin over the recent issues, lol. I agree it is a positive offer to replace figures, but given the recent bad press re prices etc. as Barli says in the circumstances more a case of doing the right thing.
By the way Barli, in the book your 'nickname' is Barley! which do you prefer?

In the Bree dialect you spell it as you hear it, so either is fine by me. Mind you, barley has more brewing uses than barli.

"Ahh," says a voice from the corner, dark, but lit subtly by the amber glow of a pipe. "Barli is short for Barliman, which in turn is a contraction of 'Barley Man,' which undoubtedly was a nickname for anyone who could brew a good barrel of beer. And all good beer is most certainly brewed without rat hair!"

Ale mayhap, but scrumpy is brewed elsewise, and lacks for body without a few... well, bodies.

And very good they look too. That's going to be a fine party.

Huooomrhuoommm ... sorry, Master Barliman ... hom ... I really didn't want to have those few customers running out of the Pony just because I hung up some pictures of poor quality in that Mathom House ... rhuoommm ... but so they are, meseems ... hom ... only the Man in the Dark is left here ... huoomm ... smoking a pipe, as once Gandalf and Thorin did, if I remember well ... huooommm ... so may I have a bowl of clear clean water, please? ...

I'm not sure that even the fellow in the corner is actually here - though it is very dark over there, and I haven't seen his pipe glowing for a while.

Oh yes, master Barli, I am here. But what of Nob, I asked him to fetch me a little more Southfarthing leaf for my pipe hours ago and haven't seen him since. Did you waylay my little errand-hobbit and put him out in the stables cleaning up the, err, you know what?
