Re: The Taproom

We don't put our exclamation marks upside down either - though actually it's a very sensible idea, to know that something's a question or exclamation when you start reading a sentence rather than when you get to the end.

So, drinks all round it is.

Oh, and I agree re the observations about the two new MS figures. I especially like Durin.

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm ... many thanks for that bowl-of whatever-it is filled-with ... rhuoomm ... doesn't really look like clear-clean water ... huoommm ... once Master Barliman decided to spend a round ... alas ... as for Drurin VI I have to agree to your wise judgement, Master Barliman ...
rhuoomm ... but who knows of Kili, Fili, Dori, Nori, Oin, Ori, Gloin ... rhuoommm ... I nearly forgot about them ... huoomm ...
as for them marks you lately mentioned it seems to be a matter of where to put them ... rhuoomm ... I dunno and don't mind ... you're used to leave those quotation marks at the bottom of a line ... I mean both of them ... rhuommm ... strange it is to me but it doesn't matter ... rhuoomm ... not at all ... hom!
Huoommm ... sorry, Master Barliman, but for now I have to focus on another three (ney, not tree it reads) ... rhuoommmhuommm ... them different beings as a wizzard and a Dwarven king could be, smoking pipes and perusing some map while another of them Dwarves is sitting aside, watching and contemplating the major matters ... rhuooommm ... all I know is that I will have it done in the ent ... thanks to The Man .... rhuoomm ...

Re: The Taproom

I am very curious hao this scene in generall will look like, and how The Man implemented the scene. Not to forget that person in the background . . .
( " . . . the Sith appear always in two: a Master and a servant . . . " )

Maybe the magic was the most powerful force in the world. But that was long ago.
The dragons are gone, the giants are dead and the children of the woods are forgotten.

Re: The Taproom

Well, the only problem is that there are three scenes ... if you take your time and re-read that chapter in the Hobbit .... Master Rita.de ... first there is surprise about all them Dwarves knocking at your door - though Master Gandalf gave you some hints about what's coming up ... you had to serve them well ... one after the other ... then you see them Gandalf + Thorin smoking pipes and discussing the rest of your life ... or where to go now ... so puzzled you are, trying to do everything right ... providing Dwarves with everything they ask for ... not to mention that Gandalf ... then once you think you also could calm down a bit for sharing parts of their plates and mugs ... them Dwarves put out their instruments and begin to make sounds ... seemed to be some kind of relaxing tunes ... though they made me curious .... all the time there was Gandalf patiently showing Thorin some point on a map ... smoking them pipes and contemplating .... another of them Dwarves was sitting aside and seems to be intersted ...
Just to be honest ... I don't know about the way this will develop .... but I'm sure it might become a brilliant piece of metal ...

Ahhh,
yes the Hobbit such a nice story, much more than just a faery-tale for children and with full of nice pictures and atmosphere.

Re: The Taproom

Seems that you have seen that nice Celebrian figure. She is absolutely perfect. Just a single piece, but it shows, that Chris is still!!! improving. How he does that is a riddle to me, but this figure is great. Together with the 'secret' vignette, we will se some of the greatest treasures ever.
I also like Durin, seems to be one of the best armoured dwarves ever.

Huoommm ... & "hom" <--- ! [quotation] ... rhuoommmmmmhom ...
Master Estel, I have to state that that vignette by now is not a 'secret' at all ... rhuoomm ... why should it be? ... huomm ... hom ... well, I'd be careful using words like 'treasures' ... rhuomm ...
be careful of adding adjectives to that noun ... rhuoomm ...
as far as I know someone plans to make an announcement fairly soon on the Mithril site to get some interest going in the project .... rhuoommm ... and that's what I try to do here as well ...
huoommm ... please, do not mistake me as trying to merchandise sth here ... huoommm ... once things or ideas are on their way you cannot stop them any more .... huommm ... that's all what this is about ... huomm ... I think Master JRR Tolkien chose a word well in that chapter ... huoommm ... didn't he say "unexpected"? ... huomm

Yes, I agree there is improvement in the man's work.  What I've noticed about the recently hung pictures is the finer quality in the area of heads and faces.  The details of hair and facial expressions to be precise...

Well, I've used various types of uhm, green stuff, and while I've never used kneadite, the GW green stuff is the best I've come across. That's the annoying thing about a lot of GW accessories. They are expensive, you find yourself supporting the other crap they pull, but the thing itself is pretty good.

Be warned, however, that Vallejo spray paint eats into green stuff of most varieties. The Citadel spray paint does not.

And, in other news, the realtor/estate agent/whatever bloke left about an hour ago, and we now have a sign on our lawn saying FOR SALE.

Of course there's still a bunch of small tasks to do, not least of which involves scrubbing excess tile grout off the bathroom floor and hacking up paint chips, but still...

Gavin

Gavin, why are you selling your lawn? big_smile

Re putty - since discovering it I use Magic-Sculpt as it tastes far nicer than the others, lol. Seriously though I have found it to be a much nicer medium to handle, it does apparently have unlimited shelf-life (although looking at mine.....) and you can apparently blast it in the micro-wave (um-mixed) to rejuvinate it. It also appears to take detail better being much smoother than miliput - I have never had much luck with miliput other than the standard grey stuff.

Green Stuff you can shove where the sun-don't-shine, twice now I have wasted gold on it and hate it although CT did suggest some sculptors may mix this with a bit of mili-put to get the best of both worlds.

Re: The Taproom

Huoomm ... as that 'green stuff' is easy to handle, once is it mixed properly, that miliput affords a quicker reaction to sculpt ...  I never tried that micro-wave version, Master Gavin. ... was it that time you had to buy a new stove ... ? oven? hearth? kitchen? ... such is life ... wink

Re: The Taproom

Greenstuff is probably best left in the scrumpy (along with the " 'shrooms" as we call them out here)!  Personally, I'm too cheap to try it when the Kneadite stuff that Wendy mentioned is available.  Same stuff; way less gold!  All fillers have there up's and down's depending on what you are using them for.  I've even had occasion to use plumber's putty for certain needs (not plumbing needs)!

Re: The Taproom

Rhuoommm ... concerning your experiences with them plumber's putty, shrooms and green stuff... I can say that I tried all of that material ... rhuoomm ... though I have to admit that I never came across that "Kneadite" stuff you referred to ... maybe the Lady could give me advice where to get it ... rhuoommm ...
as for that green stuff best being left in a scrumpy ... along with shrooms, fir-balls and rat-tails ... ahem, I just do hope that our barkeep doesn't read this ... huoomm ... once he finds out about this recipe he might offer them liquid as "Barli's Best" ... rhuoommmhommm

Re: The Taproom

I generally use Magic Sculp, but for sculpting fine details I like to mix in some Kneadatite or ProCreate (same texture, different colors) with the MS.  Kneadatite and ProCreate are very, very stiff and sticky.  I've never used Milliput, but those I've talked to who have prefer Magic Sculp.

Re: The Taproom

The trouble with all these products is that I'm not sure how many are available this side of the water, or whether they even have the same brand names.

And I've tried just about everything in my scrumpy, Master Tree, and they have a minimal effect on the taste, though they do make the mugs harder to wash.

Re: The Taproom

I don't like this green stuff eighter. I guess I'm more a carver. I use a plastic putty. Easy to shape as long as it is soft and easy to cut and polish when hard. All I need to create!

Re: The Taproom

Rhuooommm ... sounds like you're using some kind of resin, Master Caster ... maybe based on that "polyäthylen"-stuff ... usually some layers of glass fibre are also used with it if you want to achieve some stability ... huoommm in case you're about to build boats ... hom ... lol

You are close Master Ent....
Some people also call it builders putty.
Some people use it to fill up dints in cars.
Great stuff, at least for what I use it for....

Huoommm ... so my guess wasn't that wrong at all, meseems ... rhuoommm ... I even used it once to fix the drain pipe of a washing machine and it even stood the vibrations of the spin dry programme .... rhuoommm .... great stuff indeed ... just a bit smelly .... lol

Re: The Taproom

My beloved wife would like to complete this suggestion with the following product name: FIMO.
Meanwhiling I have found my edition of Milliput. It was under many layers of different things . . .
And I will try to work out how to use it for my Troll-Trio, under assistence of mistress Wendy.

Totally off topic:

The house:

And yes, Master Tree, our stove went on fire in january. Rather traumatic, that.

Well horse flesh is still eaten by Men in certain countries, sadly, though I personally find the concept decidedly unattractive.
