Re: The Taproom

Well, I have, but I think the green is mildew. Still, that will probably give you some protection against the fermenting gunk in the cider.

I meant to say a couple of days ago, by the way, that The Man mentioned in his email to me regarding the Mw346 sale that he's been "recently distracted by some quality issues" at the factory. He didn't enlarge, but could this explain the apparent delay in the appearance of Helm's Deep set 2, do you think? Does anybody know more?

Re: The Taproom

I know that following the pictures I sent to the man reguarding bard and the last of the tree trolls he had to investigate on many things reguarding quality process.. he was to go to the factory on the end of july... I suppose he may have been upset by what he saw/learned.... who knows...

Is there anybody out there you can count four more dwarves . . .?!
In the few minutes I was able to take a screenshot. They look like this:

Re: The Taproom

Amazing that they sold out in 2 minutes and 45 seconds this time, if memory serves they took much longer last time; over an hour.

Re: The Taproom

Hello Master Ent. So do you want to give us a "rumor" about what the man found lacking at the shop?

Re: The Taproom

Having been sidetracked by a domestic emergency, I missed the Dwarf auction! Not the end of the world - I'd kind of already made up my mind (i.e. admitted to myself) that I couldn't afford them anyway, and if I'd got to eBay in time I might have been tempted to buy them when I really shouldn't. So it's probably just as well that I couldn't find our old and ailing cat (mine, not Bob's) just at that moment. Perhaps I owe him an extra treat, and perhaps not.

Ah well, at least I can now buy some other figures with the money I've just saved.

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm  ... yes, the last set took longer to be sold .... huom ... but this time there have been two or three people buying 3 sets and someone even bought 5 sets ... rhuooommm ... I guess it was Master Dritzdourden ... huom
As for your question, Master Twrich, the major problem was about the primer ... The Man wasn't aware of that problem until I told him ... rhuoommhom ... I'm sure it might have been settled by now ...  huooommm ... that also might have caused the delay in the release of the "Strawheads -set" ... huoommm ... but that's just a guess ... hom

Ditto, big_smile, but they do look to me to be a nice set.

That was what I thought too. I just wondered if there was some other "quality issue" of which I was blissfully unaware. The blancmange-covered figures issue has been solved so far as I'm aware.

Now that I have seen the pic of the dwarfs I'm really angry to have missed out. Getting up in the middle of the night just to find nothing on ebay.....
Sold in under 3 minutes and listed early great....

Re: The Taproom

Huooommm ... I don't know, Master Erchamion ... but see, the Gondorians were 29, I think ... huoommm ... the Orc army consisted of 30 figures, if I remember well ... huoommhom ... Saruman's army originally consisted of 22 figures (including those two which were lost) ... huom
that means there will be some more Dwarves to come ... homm ... I wonder if we will ever see a Dwrarven bowman as that is a figure which has never been released so far ... rhuomhomhom ... maybe they cannot cope with English longbows .... hom

Well, regarding the existence of dwarves archers there is much discussion in the various Tolkien societies. In the MERP modules there are dwarves with crossbow but in the books of Tolkien never mentions the existence of dwarves archers. Not talking does not mean they do not exist ..... wink
However, due to the preference you have for the dwarves fight melee, I do not think a dwarf with a bow .... roll

Re: The Taproom

I'm a little confused about when the auction started.  Chris stated in his e-mail it would be 21:00 GMT, which translates to 17:00 Eastern Standard Time, which is where I am.  That's 5:00 o'clock.  So I see that all the sets sold out by 13:00 PDT, which is 16:00 EST, which is only 4:00.  So I logged in about an hour late.  Anyone else notice this?

Re: The Taproom

Huoomm ... yes, Master Presto247365. There always is the problem with those different time zones ... rhuoommm ... especially in the United Kingdom, I think ... rhuoomm ... in the summer they have not only GMT (Zulu time) there also is the BST (British summer time) which differs from GMT or UTC .... rhuoommm ... it's a bit complicated indeed and I also do not understand all of that .... rhuoommm ... I tried to have a look at the World Clock on the internet ... huom ... helps a bit .... rhuoommm ... but to be honest, what I always do whenever Chris announces an offer of his precious figures is that I keep being logged in on Ebay and update the site at about 8pm, 9pm and 10pm (German summertime) ... rhuoommm ... you cannot rely on time, you shouldn't be too much concentrated on a certain point of time you think it's the right one ... huom
you know time can be different .... huomm ... sometimes it simply passes, sometimes it makes haste and sometimes it doesn't seem to move at all ... rhuoommm .... that's all I know about time .... hoommm

Re: The Taproom

Huoommm ... you really have to be quick and concentrated buying those sets offered by The Man on Ebay ... rhuoommm ... I do remember well when once all sets of a part of 'Saruman's Army' were sold within less than one or two minutes ... huoommm

Re: The Taproom

So I just went swimming with the family for a bit and thought about time zones and realized the error.  I checked up on the GMT and currently UK time is GMT +1, or British Summer Time.

I got confused because in his e-mail chris referred to the auction being at 21:00 UK time, then put (GMT) in parenthesis.  21:00 UK time would be 4:00 pm here, 21:00 GMT is 5:00 pm here, hence an hour late by me!

So anyhow, did any of the Pony patrons happen to purchase an extra set that they would be willing to sell me for a modest premium??  I'd hate to have to suck it up and pay double to Dridzt, when they eventually show up on E-bay.   Don't know if I could justify that or not.

Stupid time!
I agree with Master Presto, who wants to buy this set from Dridzt....
Not happy!
Same question as Master Presto.. Does anyone have a spare set of these guys to sell or for rent:D

Re: The Taproom

Theo, I also log in early. I missed a certain Half-orc set a few years back  due to London Daylight Savings Time, and it was hard to come by it eventually. I started the hour before, just to be safe.
