Seems that Haldir made it into round two. Michael usually puts the top three into the final round.

Yes, but Haldir wasn't in the top three when the polls 'closed' - someone has voted for him since the end time that Michael had set. But I expect you're right. Like Master Theobald, I often wonder what point there is in setting an end time when it never seems to be adhered to.
I also wonder who knocked off one of my GF karma points! Is my scrumpy really that bad?
Offline
Master Barli, I put the karma back on for you. It seems that some GF members don't like to hear your comments.
But you are right, what's the point of having a set time if the poll is not closed at that set time.
On the other hand I prefer Haldir to a black huorn any day.

there are so many forums... that provides polls with automatic end of vote date and the forum closes the poll by itself without the need of human intervention... I am -once again- amazed to see that the technologies used by Mithril to reach their "displayed goal" are so archaic and obsolete even in terms of forums....
But I fight against a wall... no matter how precise and technical I could be with Lars or Michael, even considering web designing and computer administration is my lifetime job... *sigh*
You have my support master barliman! and a +1 karma too!

Yes, master Barliman, not to say Butterbur!
Have a drink with us and do not worry about Karma, we all do not really know in Bree about those things.
CHEERS!!

neither do we in Elostirion

I assme the end setting for the vote is more guideline than rule :-)

Rules are there to be broken!

So it seems.

And Haldir is doing rather well, apparently.

Huoommmmmrhuoommm ... no offence taken, Master bald/bold Barliman Butterbur ... huoomm ... not at all ... huomm ... addressing me tree as Master Theobald is much more better than that 'plank of wood' choice of words ... huom
huoommm ... I really do not understand all this about rules and Karma-things ... rhuoommm ... rules I've heard of ... huoommm ... though they can be very different or even contradictionary ... meseems ... alas, but Karma? ... huoommm ... is it something to eat or drink I've not heard of before? ... rhuoommmrumoursarethat therewillbemorevignettesinthefuture ...
Ahem, Master Barliman, may I have a bowl of that non-honey-coloured clear-clean water, please ... and one of them new chamas you serve ... ahem, well-done, please ... rhuoommhom

Keeping fingers crossed for Haldir!
Beechbone yes, but not a black burned huorn....
Isn't this true Master Ent?

Huoommm ... what is it you call "true", Master Hsf62? ... Huoommm ... as trust is a serious word with Ents ... rhuoommmm ... those Elves I ever respected as they have been trustful as far as I can remember ... huommm

My adventures have taken me far and wide but I'm back here at the Prancing Pony ready for heady brews and buxom lasses!
What's new at the Pony? When I was on last, the good citizens were brandishing pitchforks over the overpriced heroes of Helm's Deep!

I've no buxom lasses, I'm afraid - just Nob. Small comfort for a weary traveller.
As for Gamling and the other overpriced defenders of Helm's Deep, they remain overpriced, if marginally less so. And it has to be said that the disease of overpricing has spread further afield too - has anyone else noticed the horrible prices that GW intends to charge for its upcoming Legions of the Eye figures? Some are even higher than the Mithril Helm's Deep fellows. Methinks the recession is hitting the model figure industry hard.
But it's good to see a familiar face again, Master OA. Welcome back!

Well, I'll settle for a brew then! Thanks!
My next order of business will be procuring a few more tiny metal figurines. To this day I've only purchased the Hobbit set. But once I'm done with my current diorama (or is it called a vignette? What's the difference?), I will only have a couple left to paint. So it's time to think about an order.
Any ideas, my merry men, on what a good follow-up to the Hobbit set would be? I like the idea of a set of multiple figures. I'm amenable to anything that would be fun, interesting, etc. Thoughts?

Maybe the upcoming (but completely unexpected) dwarven MX party would constitute a nice next step?
Offline
That hadn't occurred to me before, Master Protozeus - an unexpected unexpected party! Very whimsical. I'm sure JRRT would have been amused by the notion.
Offline
They were unexpected unexpected, indeed. But now things may get even more strange: they are now an expected unexpected party - and if they are delayed (as you indicated), and finally released without notice, they turn unexpected expected unexpected. I think I better stop now ...
Offline
I think you'd better stop too. What little brain I have is starting to hurt.
Offline
Huoommmm ... I never said that they'll be unexpectedly released ... huoommm ... the Company will keep you informed about the time of release, Master Protozeus, I'm sure ... rhuoommm ... I just mentioned that there will be some delay .... hooommmm ... so there's nothing strange about it from my point of view ... rhuoommm ...
huoommm ... the fact that Master Barliman's brain has started to hurt is something I really did not expect ... huoommm ... so unexpected that is, right? ... hom
