Just seen the Newsletter, Master Tree, and must say that the Unexpected Party MX looks.... well, sensational barely does it justice. Truly remarkable! I think that all Mithril collectors are forever in Master Theobald's debt even more than they were before. I don't know how much it's going to cost, but I shall somehow have to scrape the cash together regardless. Perhaps I could sell Mrs B? Or Nob, maybe (though I wouldn't get much for him...).

Huoommm ... Master Gavin, I just had a look at the King of the Arnorian-vignette .... rhuoommm ... this one is absolutely different ... rhuomm ... age, garment, hairs, insignia, etc ...
before I was just referring to that Bralg holding up a head in front of his eyes ... rhuoommm ... strange customs they had some years ago ... rhuoommm ... in fact the hexagonal base will mark him again as a Christmas figure as this will be the third one in that tiny size ... rhuoommm ...
I'm really looking forward to that king ... ahem ... well, how to say? ... rhuoomm ... alas ... huomm ... again ... rhuoomm ... ahem ... well, you see ... me? tree? ... no ... rhuoomm ... again ... hmmm ... "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; ..." ... wrong text that is, isn't it? ... the one from Marc ... alas .. well ... rhuoommm ... I might just leave it up to that and be silent .... rhuoommm ... just a try, you know ... just a try ... but didn't Brutus place the words the other way round .... I dunno ... long time ago ... some hassle there was before ... rhuoomm

Huoommmm ... I really don't know where you've been or where you come from, Master Barliman ... ah, thanks for the words, by the way, though a filled bowl of that liquid you still dare to offer would please me ... rhuoommm ... I might let Mrs B. know about your plans of selling her ... rhuoommm ... you know what that means? ... aha! ... right ... so you better top up that bowl, please ... rhuoommm ... then all this fuss about costs ... I don't know either ... rhuoommm ... I payed some coiny things for them vignette so far ... alas ... why not? ... just wanted to have old ideas seeing a light .... rhuoommm ... still there are more thoughts in an Entish brain ... we'll see ... huom ...
thank you, Master Barliman ...

You know what's strange? I think one of Mr. Tubbs' least satisfying sculpts are of Strider/Aragorn. I haven't really seen any that I'm a big fan of. His hair seems too short, his face too clean shaven, and his limbs too thick. For a wild ranger, I'd expect long hair, a beard, and a lanky, sinewy build.
Of course, I am not qualified to give this opinion. It's just my thoughts.
And I love most of the Mithril figures, so please don't think I'm being critical of his overall body of work -which is wonderful.

Funnily enough, Master OA, your thoughts regarding that there Ranger echo my own entirely - I always pictured him looking somewhat like Viggo in the movies, long, long ago, before Peter Jackson was even a twinkle in his father's eye. I once even scratch-built a 54mm figure of him (Strider, that is!) that bears an astonishingly close resemblance to his movie likeness. The Man's renditions are far too 'civilised', neat, and tidy - I especially dislike his regulation military haircut!
Now, I must get on - the Tree is getting thirsty!

Hmm... I'm not curious at all, but I would love to hear about some of these "more thoughts in an Entish brain" .....

Oh, now that warrants a pic! Non Mithrils are allowed in the gallery, you know.
Perhaps someone will now suggest Strider "in the rough" for the fellowship?

The only problem will be finding him - this was many moons and umpteen collections of all sorts of bric-a-brac ago, before I became a dedicated anorak and filled the Pony to overflowing with all kinds of LOTR, SW, ST, Doctor Who and wargame ephemera (not to mention 7,000 books...). I'll get the ladder out and see if I can persuade Mrs B or that scalliwag Nob to have a dig around in the attic (the rafters wouldn't take my weight, I fear).

Hmmm, I can't decide on my next Mithril purchase! I'm thinking about either the Lossarnach figures, the Dol Amroth range, or the Corsairs. They're all nice figures.
I actually think the Corsairs look splendid! Dol Amroth is very cool too. But the Lossarnach province is very affordable. Hmm..
Tough decision..

. . .seems, that Master OA loves his minis too . . .
Welcome.

Man I need all of those series, but can't afford any of them!

Just buy one figure at a time....You'll get there in the end!

Yeah, I guess. It will just take a long time to do this.

Time is an illusion - lunch-time doubly so. Last orders, please gentlemen!

yepp, rhuoooommmhommm .... Master Barliman ... hommm ... one more bowl of clear-clean-non-sparkeling-honey-coloured-watery liquid, please ... rhuoomm ... no umbrellas in the bowl, please .... hooommm ... no rat-tails either, please ... huom ...
HUoommrhuoommm ... as for what you said about time, well ... you might be wrong, Master Barliman ... it all depends on the way you accept it ... hom ... you always haste, then it's short ... rhuoommmm ... try to enjoy time, then it might be longer ... because then you're not aware how time flies ... rhuoommmhom

Alas, I'm all to aware of how time flies! Every day that passes leaves the pile of unpainted figures just as tall...
Offline
Same problem here Master Barliman, but not with unpainted, more like unfinished minis....

Offline
I've painted 3 minis in the last two days, so hopefully I can keep it going to stay on top of them.

Huoommmm ... having painted three figures within two days ... gruomm ... hasty that is ... huommm ... I started painting the M10 two years ago and it's not finished yet ... hoommm ... it's because of other matters that might also seem to be important ... rhuoommm ... such as a blank base for 15 fellows ... alas ... why haste? ... by now it has become rather more annoying to get rid of all them leaves ... huooommm ... outside the Pony premises, of course .... hommm

I think I'll saving my money for the much-anticipated, Unexpected Party. It looks, well, words don't do it justice. I think it is hands down the most visionary and ambitious Mithril creation ever. I love the spirit behind it and the execution looks to be peerless.

Gildor - never mind! I remembered my password! No need to change it!

Well, I'm back.
(From Italy, that is.) I met someone at the miniatures exhibition/competition there who paints Mithrils as well. He knows the man and is going to send me pics of his painted Mithrils as well as a special figure the man gave him. I'll upload them here or send them to Gildor or something.
