Not bad. The shield didn't turn out as I was hoping. I have a plan for future Mithril Rohan shields which I hope bears some fruit.
I did most of the work with a dying paint brush. Got a new set for christmas, which I used for touch ups.
Still, its another mini painted and ready to go!

Very nice! The muted palette works nicely in this one and the horse has a quite real look. Any chances of more angles?

I will take more tomorrow. I ran out of daylight. Note the very, very realistic snow in the background (so realistic...because it was outside, in the snow!)

Ahhh, Master Gavin, I can put some approval back to you. A great paint job this is. And a huuuge pic as well.
Let´s wait for the new photographs.

My second biggest painting mistake this past year was moving my painting table to make the "office" in the house look less crowded. Before I had two big windows streaming in direct natural light. This proved to make life difficult. Before I could take some photos at just the right time of day too.
Now? Not so much. More space in the office, less light.
So I am thinking that I need to do something. I might throw out my painting tables and so forth, and install more light in the computer cubby hole (I didn't put it there, the house came like that!) and use it to paint. Smaller paint surface, but more light (artificial, however) and less clutter.
And when its warmer out, I'll retake all these pictures!

I think the EE raiders (EE stands for 'Evil Empire' aka Games Workshop) look fine on Mithril horses and they add some variety. We really need more poses for Rohirrim horses however!
I'm doing some research about weapons and armour for the army lists I'm doing (to be used with Chronopia skirmish rules) and I'm pretty sure Rohirrim were only into chainmail. I'm afraid Peter Jackson's scale mail is inaccurate and unpractical for raiders, because an enemy on the ground can slip his weapon easily through the scales (or so I've been told by some friends who are in Dark Ages Reenactment groups). But they do look cool all the same

Some of the Orcs were in the vault (the house had a big strong room) before and during when the first renovations were done, so their old paint jobs have been damaged - note the Uruk Hai figure's odd paint.
I don't have time to strip them and re-do them. Still...they look pretty durn good fighting the Rohirrim!
