This is fantastic, David. I like the Mewlip-figure very much, mine is still waiting to be painted, since ten years or so.

Magnificent small diorama a long time ago I did not see something so creative on such a few centimeters .... it looks like scary.... swamp monster from black lagoon...

and one question ?!?!?!?!?!? how did you do the water... a long time ago when I was doing WWII dioramas 1/35 I was resin for coating yacht and special coagulator and 5% of total density was humbrol gloss cote..... but it was complicated to do some bigger projects... to much time I have spent for waiting that this mix become dry.... so I'm interested to know... this method of doing water...

as I had a flu last days... this weekend I was not in grandma's garden but I've found this very popular creature Mewlip near by my shelf... he took the boot in Venice and he's prepare to be part of the carnival all the best master David...

Many thanks for the kind comments - I too have had the Mewlip almost finished for a number of years and finally got around to it. The scene from the module is what the idea is based on (although I have the illustrated book by McBride, R.I.P.).

As for the water effect it is E-Z - Water by Woodland Scenics which comes as a bag of small almost clear pellets which you melt over a low heat until clear and then pour it in.

One of the advantages is that when 'dry' you can carve ripples and soften them with a mini blow-torch (this can also be used to re-liquify the E-Z - Water) .

Disadvantage of this stuff is that it does get very hot therefore it could damage paintwork and when you spill it on your fingers it hurts, and when you spill it on the cooker or kitchen surface you get smaked around the head which also hurts

A good alternative also by Woodland Scenics is 'Realistic Water' which you simply pour in thin layers (be warned it will find small holes   - this generally dries withn 24hours, and 'Water Effects' which is a thick substance and can be used to produce ripples, splashes, waterfalls etc. and again takes approx 24 hours to dry clear.

The ripple effect on the Mewlip dio is a pure fluke, probably produced by pouring a second layer over a not quite cured first layer.
I like the Mewlip on the Gondola idea Master Thingol , I've only been to Venice once, many years ago, thankfully I saw nothing like that in the water.
