Re: The Taproom

yeah you know a big man.... is it a man? ... he has the beard of a man... but a bit large for a man... unless he is in 54mm scale maybe? but no... that can't be, or the dwarves would be taller too.... a mismatch in the scale of figurines?  now wait a minute... this already happened with Sauron with Gil'Galad and Elendil... but Sauron was not a man... or..... hahh I begin to understand... this may not be a "man" after all...

Re: The Taproom

A belated happy Birthday Master Tree, and what a birthday present - the release of the UP smile.

I have been off-line for the last couple of weeks due to being away and the fact that good old Virgin Media have lost our internet connection sad (hopefully back on line today), but ordered the UP as soon as I saw it, mainly out of panic as I thought I may miss the chance.

This looks a very professional release all round, I hope you are more than happy, AND I like the comment at the end of Micheal's newsletter regarding Council of Elrond! We can hope.

Re: The Taproom

a council of Elrond is definitly a great project... it would require a throne for Elrond, side thrones for Erestor, Glorfindel, Galdor.
all the mains representants :
Legolas and maybe another elf from Mirkwood
at least Gimli and Gloïn
Boromir
Frodo in the middle of the room showing the ring
Bilbo
Gandalf
Aragorn

and then Sam... and then Pippin and Merry jumping in? hehehe

I should re-read the LoTR to see who was precisely there at the council...
but it would be a 15 figurines vignettes for the least!

But I think this would clearly deserve a retailer release...
(I suppose that, based upon the success of the Unexpected Party release, they could safely (or not) decide to have a mass release of such a project! there is no market for such... big scenes...)

Maybe I could write to Chris to discuss a lot about it... as I have in the past already suggested him MANY times the council of Elrond idea (I know i am not the only one but I spent much time discussing this with him and how it could be done.... maybe what Michael said in the last newsletter was partly because of that? who knows...)

Of course, the way Michael has mentioned seems something more than just a rumor ..... more like a surprise ...... a great and wonderful surprise ...smile

Re: The Taproom

Chris had already mentionned in his mails that he was working on another BIG project besides the MX-UP... somethings similar but not the UP itself... I had no clue about it until this recent newsletter... If it is indeed the council, then I could assume it has already been in production for at least one month...

If this seems to be true, then there is a need of many pink umbrellas . . .

Re: The Taproom

Huooommmm ... I dunno ... about that Council-thing, except the fact that it's something that has been considered in the past by ... huomm ... I don't know ... rhuoommm ... the fact that it was mentioned in the latest newsletter does prove that it's not just a rumour, as Master Erchamion pointed out ... rhuoommm ... with this he is right, methinks ... huoommm ...
alas, Master Gildor, what is a month? ... huom ... short a time it is, isn't it? ... rhuoomm ... especially if something grand is to be sculpted ... homrhuommm ... so let's wait and see and be aware of our patience ... huoommmmmmmmmmmmm

Re: The Taproom

I retrieved the email and indeed, by January 16th, the Man was already working on another "large (undisclosed) mithril project". It may be the council...

I hope I'll get some more news soon!

Re: The Taproom

Huoommmm ... I did know just a bit about The Man's time schedule ... huoomm ... as for the UP he offered me two possibilities early last year ... huoommm ... to be started in early autumn, in what you call 2009 ... or very early in 2010 ... rhuuooommm ... so put on each date about at least half a year before the release ... rhuoommm ... well, anyway, last summer I had to haste and to decide ...
huooommmmm ... you know, once trees have decided, other things might follow ... huommm ...
that's why the UP is available now ... the alternative would have been to start the UP at this time of year and then it would have been available not earlier than autumn 2010 ... rhuoommm .....
Sorry, but it really was the first time I had to haste ...huoommm ...

Re: The Taproom

As Master Archer has reccommended, I'd better order in a bumper supply of pink umbrellas for the celebrations. But I confess, I am beginning to become concerned that there are many rumours of many products and yet very few of them seem to be being seeing the light of day... All (if 'all' is a very appropriate word in the context!) we've seen recently have been MS figures and the much celebrated UP set. 'But what about the M range?' say I. By all accounts we know that there are several groups of these either ready and waiting, waiting for TE approval, or in the throes of being designed. It would be nice to see some of them first. Or at all!

Re: The Taproom

A voice from a dark corner says: "Well Master Barliman, I think that you are not as forgetful as some claim!"

In all seriousness (no, not really), I think we are more likely to see an M Series or two over the next several months, maybe from the Rohan, Rhuduar and/or Rhun areas. Also we have more of those special Dwarves on the way.

With the UP just released, I think (expect) that the company knows to pace things so that we can afford them. The Council of Elrond would be awesome, but probably wouldn't come for some time.

Re: The Taproom

for sure if the council was in project, the scene would be even bigger than the unexpected party.. and could require half a year if not even more...
having 13 dwarves, a mage in robes and a hobbit is not like having 14 or so people... from all races, all kinds of garbs (adventure gear, regal robes) with the necessity of some quite decorated furniture too (I doubt Elrond chair/throne would be as raw/rude as the housing stuff of a hobbit...not yet a RICH hobbit wink

Re: The Taproom

Huuuooommmmm ... Master Barliman, I'm glad to hear that you're satisfied with the new undercoat of the figures ... huommm ... it took a long time and some words addressed to some people to turn that matter to a better ... huom ... I do not know much, but it was The Man who discovered a new source quite some time ago ... huoommm ... that's what you can see and feel now .... hom ... one reason why the UP is not sprayed simply is, that a long time ago I asked for not doing so ... rhuoommm ... I didn't want to have that piece being spoilt with that what you always called "custard" ... huomrhuuuomhom

Huoommmm ... as for another matter ... in case you're interested, I put up some pictures of the painted UP in the Mathom House. They are those provided by the company and show some nice details .... huooooommm ...

Re: The Taproom

Yes, very nice indeed, a tremendous set it is, to be sure - and is it my imagination, or is the painting somewhat better than we sometimes see from Master Fahey?

Oh, and I'm glad you found my note re the improved grey stuff on the latest MS figures, Master Tree – I appear to have inadvertently posted it in completely the wrong forum... I got lost in the corridor and went the wrong way. I blame it on the scrumpy.

Re: The Taproom

Huuuommm ... yes, all them rooms around here sometimes make you feel being in a maze ... or ... being amazed? ... rhuoom .. ... huoomm ... right, Master Barliman, must have been that scrumpy-thing ... huoommm ... or your memory which is ... hoommm
rhuoommm .... as for Master Fahey, I also think this time he did a much better job, though there really was not much time for coping with it ... huooommm ... anyway .... sometimes haste produces interesting things ... hooommm

Returning to the council.
Master Axel has suggested Master Erestor. So, there is a chance to interfere. Simply vote for him, as I will do, and the council-project will rise . . .

ah well, Erestor, here's an idea I like (it was suggested before several times )

Re: The Taproom

The more I think of it, the more I think mithril works in mysterious ways.

Voting for Erestor may or may not denote interest in the Council piece. Might just mean that Erestor gets made (in one pose) and the council gets made with Erestor (in another pose). And we'll have two figures (one for each line he has in the book wink)
