... rhuuoomm ... it's the tabroom I'm in? ... 'The Prancing Pony' that is? ... huom ... I do not mind to stay here, or better said, I do enjoy ... hom ... but ... alas, how to say? ... rhuoomm ... sorry, but ... methinks there should be a better place to discuss those matters recently referred to, such as planning some company's sale strategy (if there is one) here ... gruuooohhmmhom ...
so, please let me remind you that the 'Prancing Pony' on the old MMP ... huommm ... yes, the old one ... I called it a room for "news and rumours" ... Master Barliman at least will remember, though his ... huom ... you know what ... hom.
I cannot relax here any more with them serious discussions around ... though I witnessed that The Man in the Dark still is listening ... rhuoomm ... good to have him here still ... huoomm.

Well, what I want to ask is if anyone around here might estimate the total number of them Dwarves of the Iron Hills ... ? ... rhuoommm ... so far there are  15 Mw346 Dwarves ... which means there are more to come, right?
The old two released armies (Mw336 Gondor had 29 figures), the old Orc Army Mw337 had 31 figures - not all 31 provided in each set).
The  Mw 347 (Saruman's Army) consists of 20 figures (two are definitely lost).

Rhuuooommmm ... what do you guess how many more sets (figures) of the Dwarves do exist?
My guess is that there at least must be two more sets unreveiled .... huoomm ...
I was surprised by them Dwarven slingers ... rhuoommm ...

Anyway, Master Barliman, if you could please ... you know .... rhuoommm

.........[enter Barrow-Wight].....

Why is everyone out? I have not seen orcs with torches or similar, but if some annoying Neekerbreekers a little further north ....

Maybe it's time to put back in a Mithril Forum a new Wish-list 2010. It is a way of "pressing" the release of new serie-M with all the preferences we have said ...wink

Yes, the truth is that I too was surprised (pleasantly) to see dwarves slingers. Will we see Dwarves with crossbows? roll

Re: The Taproom

I hope not, if we want to remain true to the legendarium - there are no crossbows mentioned anywhere by JRRT.

And that's a very good point you make, Master Tree. My patrons would appear to be in need of being reminded that there are indeed many other rooms than the Taproom in the Pony ("tabroom" indeed, Master Tree! a very apt pun); and new ones can always be opened up for debates on other issues. In the vernacular, one could perhaps say "Take that discussion outside, if you please"!

And it's also a very good point that Master Erchamion makes - I'd completely forgotten about the old list  of suggestions for additions to the MC range that Michael suspended a year or so back through apparent lack of interest on our part. He did say he'd revive it at some point, but nothing has happened since. Perhaps someone should remind him. It would certainly present the simplest way of getting some of the old discontinued figures back into production.

Oh, and thank you for sorting out the rugs again, Master Tree. Of course, they wouldn't need cleaning so often if you didn't keep dragging mud in here in the first place.

Re: The Taproom

Gentlemen I have to remind you the words of C.Tubb "this set was the second last" set of dwarves

this clearly means only one set of dwarves remains.

and well I will keep suche hot debates for other places next time you are right

I will start a Wish-list 2010 thread on the mithril forum, because I'm odd like that.

And then I should go back to painting my converted Riders of Rohan.

Re: The Taproom

Hello, Master Tree . . . yes, I listen, and speak sometimes. But mostly I sit in my dark corner and sip ale and puff on northfarthing . . . Nob is quite a good chap, when Master Barliman allows him to attend to the guests.

So this being a place for small talk and rumors over our libations, I'll not get into a long discussion, but only say, again . . . its all about economics, OK along with some corporate indifference and lack of vision regarding the sales and marketing of Mithril. It takes upfront money by Mithril (really PA) to produce an "M" series, and just selling to us at e5.99 per pieces won't work for them unless they sell a lot--which can't happen without better marketing and new customers (e19.99 for 75 or 100 MS figures does work though).

Really, getting Mithril to produce more regular M series and getting the price of the FG figures down are two sides of the same coin. More people need to buy the figures for either to happen. But this has been discussed elsewhere.

So . . . back to rumors and small-talk . . . we know there are at least two more Helms Deep releases planned (maybe three); and the Easterlings of course; but if there was one more release prototype already completed, but not given the "go ahead" yet, what riddles might anyone spin to give us a hint?

Believe me, I have my own ideas too!

As for the Easterlings, I have a horrible feeling that we're never going to see them. It must be three years now since The Man finished work on them.

Re: The Taproom

You know...

Back when mithril were trying to get approval for the Easterlings, I suggested they name them for one of the MERP tribes - the Sagath. So they could be called The Sagath (who are easterlings). Just to move the approvals along. But then they were approved. So why not go backwards: let Phaeton release them as "tribes of the east" or something. Even if they were ten euro each, I'd probably be really tempted.

Re: The Taproom

Maybe the man should add the easterlings under his own banner. At least there would be a possibility to buy them!!!
I don't really care if there is a mithril stamp on the base or if it is a Phaeton Design. Still the same figure I believe.

Re: The Taproom

Life never being simple, I would imagine that Mithril will have already paid for Chris's time designing them, so that they're technically no longer his "intellectual property". But who knows? - it might be a solution.

Re: The Taproom

No, but with a "work for hire" there might be a way to "buy" back the work and re-release it without any trademarked intellectual property.

So Chris "buys" back the Easterlings at a nominal fee, sells them through Phaeton, splits some profit back to Mithril, we get Easterlings, TE/MEE gets nothing and Chris gets paid. Because while Chris Tubb has already been paid for his freelance work, a bunch of completed greens sitting around is not bringing in any cash to Macroom.  Maybe we could get the Wilderland set out that way too.

Well, I offered Chris once before to do moulds for him. If he doesn't want to mould and cast the figs himself, he is always welcome to send me a message. smile

Re: The Taproom

He's also able to make his own moulds, I think - he certainly cast a hundred or so Isengard Orc shields for me as a favour a couple of years back, for which I assume he first had to make a mould.

Re: The Taproom

I know he is able to mould himself. The question is, does he have the time to mould and cast say 200 set's of easterlings?
I guess he can make more money designing new minis and leave the labour for the others... LOL

Re: The Taproom

What the heck are you doing with 100 Isengard shields, Master Barliman ? Remember, there is the "Art Gallery" here somewhere.
If there is the Easterling-topic at present I always begin to shiver.I have to say that I am the biggest fan of these Easterlings (tongue).
But I notice there are others . . . I agree to Gavin, let´s call them "Sagath"!
Are all these suggestions for real? I suppose Master Gildor will tear a "Easy Reason" out of his hat which prevents everything wink
Well, I would pay even more than 10 euros for them and I will buy all of them, for sure.
Currently I re-re-re-paint the first Rohirrim-set and I really adore the horsemen by Chris.
And this single lonesome Sagath warrior is so damn promisingly. ( although he is called a "Variag", but these are Easterlings, too, aren´t they)

Re: The Taproom

Well said, Master Tree. My 100 Isengard shields were for my Isengard army, of course - what else? And it comprises a lot more than 100 figures too; currently about 350 when they're odedient enough to come on parade. But not all Mithrils, alas, hence the extra shields.

Master Shadyt's desire for extra Orcs is a valid point in this particular regard - there is a pressing need for extra Isengard gunfodder (arrow fodder?), of which we only have two examples (LT9 and LT10). Though of course, any Orc can serve as an Isengard soldier if he's carrying the right shield and is devoid of eye motifs.

The four Mithril wolfriders that exist, for instance - what's to prevent anyone calling them 'Isengard wolfriders'? It's just a shame that only one of them (MC33) is easy to come by. I consequently use Vendel wolves with GW riders and Mithril shields.
