Huoommmm ... I did not misunderstand you, Master Gildor, not at all ... rhuoommm ... I even do share your pleasure in painting "characters", even within an army ... huoommm .. to be honest we experienced painting Mithril armies being different from that plastic-stuff that some other companies provide ... rhuoomm ... and in the 'Ent' it's what challenges some people to create very fine conversions based on Mithril figures to achieve this ... rhuooommm ...
I once painted the Mw336 and the Mw337 many years ago ... huoomm ... it was completely different from the experience I made painting them GW-masses ... rhuuoommm ... there was much more "individuality" in the figures (especially in the orc army) compared to the GW-releases, where you just can alter the appearance of single figures by colour .... rhuooommm
with this Mithril always has been much more better ... hom! .... mind the varieties given with the Lossarnach-release (arms, poses, weapons) ... huomm ... that was a brilliant concept for 'wargamers', I think ... huuuom ... me, I'm just a collector, as you might know by now ... hom

Well, I haven't been here in a long time! A whole lot is happening here and it took a while to catch up!

I am the biggest, if not the hugest, Rohan lover that their ever was! I can't wait until I see pictures of this awesome M-series! I do hope that we get a Eomer on foot! OH PLEASE!!!!

Afraid I have to let you down, Master Marshal - there's no Eomer on foot in the upcoming M range. But there is one in the Fellowship range, of course...

And one thing I'd add on the subject of painting Mithril (or come to that any other manufacturer's) armies, is that in no way do they need to all be painted the same! These aren't parade-ground martinets - they're warriors from a much earlier, dare I say scruffier, less efficiently administered age, with minimal commissariat arrangements; few would have worn matching trousers or undershirts, and even their uniform tunics - where such things were worn at all - are likely to have varied considerably in colour and cleanliness. Paint some patches on their clothing and add a little grime. There's immense leaway for all sorts of variations in dress! Let your imagination go a little - the end results can be very effective.

I quite understood your point, Master Tree. I just wanted to remind people that even identical figures can be made to look startlingly different by intelligent painting.

Speaking of babies reminds me of how amused I was when my friend Michael Perry the figure designer decided to call his first daughter Minnie (think about it...). When he had another daughter I suggested he should call her Minnie Minor, but on reflection he didn't think it was a good idea.

Interesting - I only know of one such 'delayed/deferred' set; I wonder what the other one is?? I do know of two other definitely forthcoming sets and have pictures from both, so I don't imagine you're alluding to either of them. Hmmmm...

Either way, as I said in this very establishment last year, 2009 looks like it's going to be a good year for us, Mithril-wise.

seems that  some of us are busy outside the Mithril hobby!!

Maybe we should count how many babies are born from mmp- members or their wifes
Would be nice statistics and  show that Mithril-collectors are mostly "wise ones" and not newbies....

Yes, one day Max may be disappointed to learn that his inheritance will mostly consist of several hundred pounds of lead miniatures and some dried up paints. 


I'm looking forward to all these foreshadowed mithril releases being mentioned.  I'm going to have to scour the budget very carefully to finance some 2009 purchases, as I'm already a little behind on the MS figures, and haven't procured the Knights yet either

Yeah, I'm way behind with MS purchases, thanks to the crippling pound/euro exchange rate. It briefly improved on Friday, so I leapt in and ordered two figures, but sadly I pressed the wrong button on the order form and the order consequently only got processed today - and the exchange rate dropped back down in the interim. Typical Butterbur luck.

The prices of the MS figures are currently absolutely horrible unless you live in a part of Middle-earth that uses the euro - the two figures I committed to have just cost me £40 including postage. Those are almost eBay prices!

At this rate I'm beginning to harbour serious doubts about being able to financially justify  remaining a Fellowship member.

I may have to increase my bar prices. And you lot may have to start paying up quicker.

He is a real GENTLEMAN ! He gives the Rohan-Archer to me as a gift in December. This one is painted now and ready for viewing.

A female Orc, a female assassin and Durin???

Where are all those very fine ideas of this month?

This may be the first time, I will not vote. Dwarves are o.K., but why not Bombur? Durin is surely o.k. but not one of those figures I was waiting for for years. Female Orcs????? Like Sauron some things should ever be done, even if Chris' vision is always great and comes close to mine concerning Tolkiens characters.

There were few strange but nice figures in the GF-range, but this time I am frustrated. Once I thought Mithril was the one and only company producing true Tolkien-figures and not things like this.
